a 90,93,93,95,96 on it out of 9 boats. C'mon you can do better than that! Sinking????...those new Cig stepped hulls are rollin over and spinnin out all over the place. Also please explain the "cover girl" cabin will ya. Word is that the hulls porpoised so badly that they had to remove half the cabins. (that could be total B.S.) Just somthing I heard. Last but not least,I'm just pissed off because I can't afford one!!!!!!! :D |

Re: Cig hires Ben Robertson
"1982 Don Aronow creates the Apache 41 (Never gets a good night's sleep again)."
LOL ain't that the truth. T2x is right on the money. This fact that gets lost in the "Apache Wars (tm)". The 41 Apache mold was designed and built by Don Aronow's crew shortly after starting USA racing at the old Signature building. A 41 Apache is basically a stretched version of the Ajac Hawk race boat. Look at an old 38 cig hull and a 41 Apache hull, other than length, not much different. The straight bottom cigs were, and still are, righteous boats. Todays Cigs with the new Nasa designed and patented "Flip Over" technology are a different story. |

Re: Cig hires Ben Robertson
Racing costs lots of money....
Skip knows nothing about racing and dosen't want to...he is a bussiness man and bought Cig to make money for himself. Thats not saying he never will and maybe this Ben Robertson his part of that but he spent a big nut on the new factory. |

Re: Cig hires Ben Robertson
Wow, what a thread! May I add my $0.02?
As most of you know I had the privilege of selling new and used high performance boats for Everglades Marina from January 1987 to April 1993. We were dealers for Apache, Cigarette, Fountain and Formula. All great boats and as you can imagine we had something for everybody except the entry-level guy. Every boat has its own strengths and weaknesses and the trick to selling and operating them successfully is learning how to drive AROUND those factors. Also, listening to your customer and helping him get into the boat that is going to best suit his needs is of much importance. Anyway, most of our clients already knew what they wanted before they ever set foot on the property. These guys were easy to dial in to the right boat. The challenge was the guy who was open to any of our brands. My point is you can't lose with ANY brand of boat if it's the boat that does what you want it to do for the money you want to spend. Ben Robertson would be an asset to ANY company that was smart enough to hire him. His experience, skill, reputation and charisma are outstanding. (I feel the same way about Brownie despite his alleged "dealings" with Mr. Ricky)! |
