New 30 Skater in Powerboat
$460,000.00 that is a typo right, if not that doesnt make to much sense to me.

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Base price is about 130K posted on OSO almost 2 months ago!
Of course, with engine's and drives, and..., and..., the sky's the limit, I'm sure. :D http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=114315 http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s....php?p=1497439 (See post #100) |

Half of $460,000 is still too much for a 30 foot cat. |

What part about LIST Price is unclear here?
If you would like to pay that much, please call me collect! |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
I think Skater is a bit too proud of their boat. |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
dont get me wrong, that boat is absolutely DEAD GORGEOUS. I mean when ya look at like a 30 spectre 300x's, fully rigged, trailer etc...$1teens, 30 AMT 6.0 Vortec's, IMCO Extreme's loaded up high $100k area (which still seems a little steep) in comparison to a new 32 Spectre 575's loaded up trailer etc...$230's Granted none of these will run the kinda MPH the 30 Skater does with those monster motors but just pricey as hell. I mean even a new 32 skater with like 525's and arnesons gotta be more reasonably priced then that 30 no ?

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
IMO power that with arnesonsand 496's or 525 price it aggressively and it will sell quicker than they can build it.

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Earlier in this year, not now, you could have purchased a 32' Standard deck Skater (quarter canopy) with the same power for about the same cost as a 30' flat deck.
With the new pricing increase last month, the 32' cost a bit more now vs the flat deck 30'. The drive train is a mute cost as either boat needs a drive train. Rigging is the same and so is the trailer. PROROC just finished a new 32' Skater with 496's that ran 105 on the bump box first day in the water with fuel and people. Yes this is a much less expensive package as the engines are less than one of the Sterling's alone. The $460K was a price that was put there for the Mag. It did not represent what I sold the boat for. |

[QUOTE=Harper220] I think Skater is a bit too proud of their boat.
QUOTE] When skater runs out of orders their prices might drop. Too proud is a relative term. Ferrari's are an expensive way to get to the store too. NK |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Rik, does Dale not come on this site??
|
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Not really. The mag has not hit the West coast yet so he, like I do not know what is written.
As you know we don't know what to expect. I'm having a copy over nighted to him. I'll tell him of this thread and let him take it from there. You ever get that video on a CD? |

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
I thought that boat looked awesome. Very, very nice.
|
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
So does anyone like the boat? Or is it just the list price that Skater sent to Powerboat Mag that ruins things?
|

lose the foot throttle, maybe a little plusher cockpit and a set of 850 mercs... :D  |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
The customer wanted that interior. He insisted upon it.
That 850 merc would sink the boat, be impossible to insure and cost $$$$$$$$$$$$ People are already *****ing about the price! Foot throttle is very easy to drive and eliminates the console which makes getting into the seats a breeze. |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
The boat is very badazz.......i have a personal friend that will probaly get one made similar. people are b!tching at the price, just like the 850K Cig Top Gun...........Tom

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
My hat is off to all involved.....incredible boat!
(for an inboard) :D :D |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
I guess there must not be much of a circulation of the "Extreme Boats Mag" as the boat is on the cover of that magazine.
If your friend gets Bravos, the deck will have to be 12-14" taller in the rear than the one I built. Will change the look of the boat. |

Hey Rik, the PBM article was very good. I was laughing to myself about one little line in the article. You'll see what I'm talking about when you read it.
I havent put the footage on disk yet but still have Dales address and want to get it out to him. After I send it to him I'll try to get it up on putfile to host it so everyone can see it. It's AWESOME footage, as you know. Oh, and I don't think theres any doubt about it, that thing is SICK! The mags don't due it justice though. WAAAAY better in person. Get dale to drag that f*cker out to Havasu for the Spring heatwave poker run. Already talk of some big players coming out for it when we were in Key West. |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Rik, that 30 is flat silly. It by far is the best looking flat deck to date. Your choice of design, colors and power train, you and Skater should pat yourself on the back. It shows why Skater is a year out, and they can name there price. Your boat rattled me so much I had Scott Conrad start to work me a price. With 75k worth of aluminum Donovan dry sump aspirated 540 cubic" motors from my engine builder, hook to bravo style drives, rigged on a trailer was about 380K. Does this sound right on price?

Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
Maybe Im old school, how does the foot throttle work in rough seas ?
I notice alot of those on west coast boats, is it mainly for lake boats ? Curtis |

What's not to like? [well, maybe the price for us regular folk;)] I don't care what Powerboat publishes as the list price. It's well known that no one pays those prices. Yes, Skaters are expensive. But so is a Rolex, a Bently or a Picasso. I don't admire them any less. Beautiful boat!!!! |
Re: New 30 Skater in Powerboat
The foot throttle is easy to drive even in the rough as it is a dead pedal to brace yourself against also.
