Re: Save the Old Race Boats
I can see it now " The Jersey Boys Classic"
I think it would be great seeing some of these old " has beens" getting some attention. If they cant be rebuilt for racing someone should at least put them in a museum.
Wish I could find one of those old cougars and rebuid it.

The 39 Cig was sold to someone in Chicago after Eddie owned it then sold to Craig Barrie if memory serves, it was Cigarrette Hawk and Coor Light. Craig sold it and I believe it is a pleasure boat somewhere in FL.

Re: Save the Old Race Boats
The 36' Copper Kettle was owned by a Dr. in Miami last I heard a few years ago. Was kept in immaculate shape.
36' Sabre Dance was sold to someone in Stuart, FL, they sold it and not sure where it is now.
35' Bounty Hunter went to Panama (The country) as Panama Hawk. Is still probably there.
28' Rabco "Black Max" went to someone in Seattle, Wa. I'm sure it is still there in the area. Last I heard it was warehoused most of the time.

Re: Save the Old Race Boats
UPDATE......We are going to Key West to the World Championship Race.
Spoke to John Carbonell (Used to race with him back in the days) this morning.
Members of HORBA now have an invitation to come to the World Championships at Key West next November. Our boats will be displayed all week and we are talking about having a special day for in-water activity so these old race boats can be seen and heard in action.
More details to follow as we work them out.

Double r had an old wooden cougar out back last year that i believe used to be one of the fayva shoes cats. Not shure if its still there today, but if u look on the double r website, there is an aerial view of the property and i can see it in the pic. The boat said thrillerboat.com onthe side and was rotten pretty bad when i checked it out in '04

1988 Larry Smith Scarab race boat located in France. Listed in the OSO classifieds for 50k.
I don't know if has any US race history, so I guess the officers of the new club would have to rule on eligibility.
Still....cool boat.

Do you have a lot of the parts these guys need for the upcoming restoration projects?
