I just got my new boat and i want to remove the vinyl off of it. i was told by the guy i bought that the vinyl has been on it for like 2years. my question to yall is what can i use to remove it and when i remove it if there's a color difference from where the vinyle was what can i use to give it the shine that the whole boat has? thanks in advance

These supposedly work great:
Ok, that link wont work, just goto www.3m.com and so a search on "Stripe Off Wheel"
Some bigger ones, search for "Scotch-Brite™ Large Area Stripe Removal Disc"

Just removed mine from the side of the boat.... I used a heat gun and peeled it off and then rubbed with WD-40 and a plastic scraper (actually an old credit card) to get the adhesive off. I left the deck graphics on because I was afraid there would be too much fading around it but the sides came out nice....
It is MUCH easier with two people and 4 hands tugging on the vinyl

I used GOO-GONE. As mentioned, WD-40 helps too. I can still see where the graphics were. I don't think it is real noticable, maybe it's just that I know it's there.

I've had excellent results with a heat gun and an old credit card for scraping the vinyl off. Brake cleaner will easily get rid of the sticker residue. Be sure to compound and wax liberally once everything has been removed.

Damn thats one long link. Anyway, it's a 3M STRIPE OFF WHEEL. After you remove the striping the area under may be slightly raised and will need to be sanded. Chances are you will have to cut back the entire side or deck or where ever the graphics were to get to the origional gel color and then buff it out. You can do it wet or dry depending on which system you use and what your preferance is. Gelcoat only!!!! If your boat is painted disreguard this post.
