Change your cam, exhaust, and put on a supercharger. Should get you to enough HP to put a huge smile on your face for well under $10k.
If your 454mag has some hrs on it, just have it freshened up.
Either way, you can get the speed and acceleration you want for a lot more than $30k.
Also, don't forget to water test some props with your new souped-up engine...can make a big difference!

If you change it ......you could go to some reputable shops in your area out west (theres lots) and see if they got a good deal on a take out motor you would like......guys spend huge coin upgading their boats and lots of times you can get great deals on their old stuff.....that lots of times isnt very old!......also lots of times the same shop also built his old motors too so they have serviced them since new and can speak for their condition.......thats what I did......had them disassembled and freshened up.....good to go.

teidsmore, welcome to OSO;
Shasta and Oroville my favorites with Beale AFB TopGun fly bys are awesome.
Lots of wise advise here. $30k mad-spending on your hobby...you are a lucky man-can't wait to see it when it is done.
pm me as i am your neighbor and have some experience with a few 'norcal' marine guys for you to watch out for.
Good luck and have fun

I would seriously rethink dropping 30K in a 1998 26 Scarab, the Nada is less than 30K on you current boat. Also if I remember right doesn't your boat have some funky exhaust system the Scarab used that year (water chamber) this will result in allot of work to convert.
I would just put a whipple on it and keep, save the money for another toy.
My 2 cents
