Default 496 HO's...

I was wondering if anyone has added any power options to thier 496's... I was looking into Pro Chargers or Whipples, but not sure if these motors are the best foundation... Just wondering if anyone has added anything to thiers and if they have had any troubles with them... The Motors have 90 hours on them now if that makes a difference...

Thanks

Hey Steve,

The CMI headers will give you around 50 HP. Plus they sure do look nice.

I agree, then you can basically have the same power as a HP500 or 500EFI. I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to go 5, 10, 15 mph faster?

Not really sure what I want to do... I was talking to someone a little while ago that said the GIL headers (I think) he has makes his boat sound ALOT Better... Which Interests me...

But basically the boat goes just over 80mph on GPS, and if I could put it into the 90's with some form of added power (I don't think the headers would be enough) I might be interested doing something to it... But I really don't want to create a HUGE Headache and the boat be in the shop more then it's on the water... That's #1... Maybe with the headers, I won't add any headaches, get a few MPH and make some more Noise...

Any guesses what another 100 HP (total) would do to my MPH..??

Whipple it. I had one on my old boat & picked up 12mph & never had a minutes problem with the setup. Very nice product.

What boat is it? Also what drives are hanging off the back? You could change your lowers or mess with different props to start......i like the header idea 1st....

It's a Sunsation Dominator... Has Bravo 1's on it (which could add to the problem as well...)

I would also be carefully here... No way any headers will produce the same power curve as a MERC racing engine...
