you're right lighter doesnt mean weaker, but a certain amount of weight is needed. If I remeber correctly Craig Barrie made a super light 38 or 42 that bounced all over, wouldnt cut through the waves. a winning combo is exactly that a combo.

How could Reggie get "spanked in the 80's" when he didn't start racing until 1990 ? When he started racing he won, actually dominated right from the start.
But the heavier the slower so there is a trade off. I'll bet the new Apaches would crush the older Apaches in any weather because of newer technology.
