I have, there is a ride quality difference I can assure you of that.

Been there and done it, I have the T-shirt already.

I don't know, McManus would have to field that question.
I would love to see some of those multi step hulls in rough water running against that 47 Apache.

I guess it's been a long winter day... Anyway, BGII mentioned this as well.....what does Fountain have to do with a thread titled "Cig vs. Apache?

If the Apache's where made with the latest and greatest technology a lot of things would need to change. I bet the CG would be differnet, the length and width of the stringers would be different etc. Basically everything about the bottom would need to be changed.

It just might look exactly like this.....

Ask Bob Saccenti about this design. It's his latest project and he just completed the R&D on it. :D

My .02

An Old School Cigarette or Apache' is a toss up.

When it comes to stepped hulls I do believe Reggie has it nailed down to a science. I would get a Fountain 47'er rather than a 42' Stepped Cig.

And a Scarab was winning there 1981 before that representing USA. Oldschool boats still rule at a true offshore race and CTC is still the no1.
No one has beat Buzzis 50, when will there be a A47 vs Buzzi...or any other big one from US?
A Marauder perhaps?

Hi MikeyFin. CTC is awesome racing in my book. As far as Buzzi, Mr Euro Offshore in my book too. I believe Jim who owns the 46 Freedom Skater raced Buzzi back in the day. Maybe he will chime in and talk about his experience. Damn 2:20 am and I have to be up in 3 hours. That's it for tonight.

BROWNIE 07-29-2014 05:35 AM

Generally, the longer the better, like winkies. Excepting flat seas, the longer similar hull (they all came from the 35' Cigarette) will outrun any of the shorter models with an equal amount of testosterone. I ran the crew that developed the Top Gun. It is my 'civilian' favorite.

MikeyFIN 07-29-2014 06:46 AM

Brownie, and the race favourite? Damn, now I think of 38TG to get to the cabin, ...thought of some smaller...

MikeyFIN 07-29-2014 06:47 AM

And the story of the 38TG development, please?

Gunrunner72 07-29-2014 10:06 AM
