Hey,Maybe it just me,But cats really just dont do much for me at all. I was at the 1000 Isle Poker Run,some of the most exotic cats in the world.Tomcat had really cool paint...other than that...not much...I couldnt get enough of the big Donzi's,Fountains,Cig's,Outerlimits and Sonic's,Now they are BOATS!!! They exude class and sex appeal.to me the Cats look more like a...device..than a boat(sorry),I have never heard a cat refered to as Classy.I can appriciate their performance, they go fast really really well but for the most part are very one dimensional...Rip around go fast...Ok,Now put it on the trailer...theres not much else to do. And T2x..EVERYTHING in life isnt a RACEBOAT, Theres SO much more to boating, try it. With any decent Vee you could have used that 1000 Isle Poker run as the start off point for a two week vacation!! 90mph in the Poker Run, then kitchen A/C and a stand up head for the touring afterwards, COUNT ME IN!!! VEE BOTTOMS FOREVER!!!! and T2x is really Reggie Fountain!!!!

Twin29,you just have not had the chance to ride for any length of time in a great cat. I do agree that if you need to bring your "house" along with you(ie. A/C,bathroom couch, micro, bedroom) and you don't have a desire to run over 150MPH,then you need a V hull.

WHOA!!! Twin29, seems like you are trying to start an argument...don't go there, we are just absorbing information, and T2x is entitled to his opinion, and so am i, and so are you! He happens to be very knowedgable and straight to the point. He has his preferences and so do you. Vee's have there place and so do cats...to each there own, and do what you feel suits you.

OTTO- Sorry,..HAD to play a floor hockey game with the kids..lost, Anyway, dont give me this 150 mph junk. the ALL RISKS Skater was fastest pleasure boat in the world, what, two years ago and it only did 146mph.the amount of 150mph pleasure cats in North America could be counted on two hands, maybe one.Typical Poker Run cat you see out there runs 115 120..130 TOPPS! And dont tell me your running around at 120 130 all the time...NOT! more like 70 80 maybe 90... hmmmmm seems like were back in fast Vee territory again, then when you have to go home because going fast is the only thing your boat will do,me and the rest of the Vee guys will head out to a cove somewhere drop anchor and watch the sunset over dinner and a few cold ones....Now THATS Boating!!!!

Twin 29--You're right, I make my judgements on performance boats based on their racing ability, agility, safety, and endurance. That's why they're called "performance" boats. Cats, in fact are, better in most or all of these attributes. If I based my choices on comfort, cooking options, lounging area and sleeping quarters, I would prefer a Sea Ray, Hatteras, or Broward. Anything in between is a "compromise" of some sort or another. Once you accept that you are driving a compromise, than you accept that you can't catch the fast guys.... AND..... you're looked down upon by the "yachtsmen". If you've been reading both posts you'll note that I have raced, pleasure boated, and manufactured both Vees and Cats. For me, sitting in my outdated "compromise, sucking down a beer, believing that my "step bottom" technology is actually worth the money is not my cup of tea. Bottom line, the newest 46 Skater pleasure cat , to be delivered next week to Pat Patel, has V-12s, next generation stern drives, 170 mph top end, a shower, microwave, sleeping accomodations for 4 and a head. To me the performance aspects are the most impressive. Methinks you might be more intrigued by the loo......To each his own. That's what makes America( er North America) special......eh?
I see that you own an older Fountain, Non Stepped bottom. You are probably proud of it and that's good. Most boaters aspire to something bigger or better ( I don't, but most do). You have probably looked enviously at a newer "stepped" Fountain, or Hustler, or Donzi, or Outer Limits, or Cigarette, or Formula, or Scarab, or Progression, or Superboat, or Kryptonite, or Powerquest, or or Baja or, or .........If you simply look at this seemingly endless list, you have to admit that any semblance of originality has been lost in a sea of redundance. None of them actually stands out, or stands for, anything. They offer mediocrity at every turn, with the possible exception that some have more expensive hardware. Sadly the "suits" and the bankers have invaded the boat industry with the same PR soaked, dumbed down, golf shirted, market driven, designed by committee, stylized, graphically correct, portion controlled, publically held, plastic crap that has robbed every other major industry of character, and class. You seem angry at my viewpoints, but I submit that you may be more angry at the lack of true substance in the choices available to the everyday "performance" boater today. There are exceptions, and I have tried to point them out. But, honestly they are few and far between..... The originals.... The classics....and the focused.
Good luck to you up there in Oshawa .........Did I mention that I was once on the Canadian Mercury factory racing team?
