James Caan in the Needle-Nose tape of a "Big Seas" race in NJ, commenting on Bobby, "He's unmatchable, unmatchable."

I believe Mr. Luhrs may have had a few kind words for Bobby, too.

ttt

Thought I might surfacer this thread. Recent Powerboat article w/ excellent picture of 38 Bertram Competition has renewed interest in this V hull maker.

Whatever happened with BERTRAM ? They seemed to have done well in racing in the early seventies and you saw a lot of race boats in the eighties, but no production sport boats other than the 28 baron and that poptop boat and than they just faded out of sport boats. Was it a change in managment or company direction?

T2x needs to update this thread to account for any "new, great moments in v-bottom history"...you, know, like when old things become the "newest, greatest, coolest invention in history"...

fountains are beautiful. who cares who copied off what....reggie smarter than us... stepped and pad hulls work..its easy...steps disrupt airflow under hull, create vortices and lift up the boat...less contact surface area equals less drag combined with aero and hydro dynamics (air under and over hull) "laws of physics" creates a naturally faster hull......I'm not even a fountain owner......cracking me up.....I love this website.....new england..hahaha........lol........this post is probably old, but i'm bored at work....
