I just re-rigged and sold my WPM Warrior 28' cat with a 700 hp blower motor, Bravo 3, 1:5 gears, 30 pitch props, nose cone, on a stand-off box, the best mph on GPS is 78. I'm going to try 1:36 drive in a couple weeks. I'll let you know.

This thing is a rocket out of the hole.

Teague said in a powerboat article that the Bravo 3 hits the wall around 60 and takes a lot of hp to get over that. Maybe thats why a 28' cat with 700hp is only going 78mph.

I had a Bravo 3 connected to a Whipple-charged 502 in a 22-foot Crownline. I GPS'ed at 74 one day with five people onboard.

It had the best hole-shot on the lake!

My Cobalt is HEAVY.. 26'10" it'll do 60 loaded down with 5 people and with no people it'll do about the same. Almost the same performance. Bravo 3's are really a workhorse. The dynamics of the design makes it hard to push over 60. My bow doesn't even rise coming out of the hole... its just straight. I'll have this boat until my kids are done with the watersports and then move on...UP!

I have BIII's on my .38 Special. It runs 60-61 GPS with a full tank of gas or 1/4 tank. I may have the slowest boat but I get one hell of a hole shot and I'm out in front for about a 1/2 mile

Any dual-prop drive will pay an increasing drag penalty as speed goes up - there's just sooo much blade area that you can't get away from it. The B3 lower case isn't the best for high speeds either.
I've got Volvo DPX's on a pair of boats. One is a 38' Formula (heavy - every option) with 600's that will run 75+ any day and almost 80 on a good day. The other is a 28' Batboat with a single 600 that runs in the low 90's. The DPX is considerably more hydrodynamic than a B3, but it's also out of production. (Although there is a pair sitting in my garage....)

The Volvo duoprops are superior to the B3, smoother, stronger(much), more hydrodynamic, especially in heavier boats over 8000lbs.
