What scan tool for the 496 is $400? I'd like to go ahead and buy one for just that reason. I'm a do it yourselfer from way back who hates having to wait or rely on someone else especially if it's simple-simon crap.

I like the laptop software thing, but it's a little too pricey to justify in my boat budget.

Contact ED @ Rinda Technologies in Chicago, Illinois. They make a simple Scan tool for about $400 and if you would rather use your laptop their Diacom software with interface cables is just a bit more.

Ray is Right on, Merc could easily package that unit . Just ask yourself what a big block engine costs then ask yourself what a big block mercury engine costs,???
