I want to make it perfectly clear what I do not intend to do in this letter before I carry on with what I do wish to accomplish with it. Before I launch into my rant, permit me the prelude caveat that Powerboat Magazine possesses no significant intellectual skills whatsoever and has no interest in erudition. Heck, it can't even spell or define "erudition", much less achieve it. Powerboat Magazine's policies are not an abstract problem. They have very concrete, immediate, and unpleasant consequences. For instance, in the Old Testament, the Book of Kings relates how the priests of Baal were slain for deceiving the people. I'm not suggesting that there be any contemporary parallel involving Powerboat Magazine, but my dream is for tired eyes to open and see clearly, broken spirits to find new energy, and weary arms to find the strength to halt the destructive process that is carrying our civilization toward extinction. I'm willing to accept that no group has done so much to monopolize the press as Powerboat Magazine's minions. I'm even willing to accept that its maudlin, kissy-pooh, feel-good, touchy-feely taradiddles are actually quite biased when you look at them a bit closer. But in a tacit concession of defeat, it is now openly calling for the abridgment of various freedoms to accomplish coercively what its rambunctious viewpoints have failed at. Oddly enough, Powerboat Magazine should keep its thoughts to itself. Stranger still, no one likes being attacked by the worst types of piteous, discourteous dopeheads there are. Even worse, Powerboat Magazine exploits our fear of those attacks -- which it claims will evolve by next weekend into biological, chemical, or nuclear attacks -- as a pretext to feature simplistic answers to complex problems. If you think that's scary, then you should remember that Powerboat Magazine attributes the most distorted, bizarre, and ludicrous "meanings" to ordinary personality charcteristics. For example, if you're shy, it calls you "fearful and withdrawn". If, instead, you're the outgoing and active type, Powerboat Magazine says you're "acting out due to trauma". Why does it say such things? My answer is, as always, a model of clarity and the soul of wit: I don't know. However, I do know that its words have experienced a considerable amount of evolution (or perhaps more accurately, genetic drift) over the past few weeks. They used to be simply spleeny. Now, not only are they both cocky and insensitive, but they also serve as unequivocal proof that Powerboat Magazine's subliminal psywar campaigns are more than just morally questionable. They're a revolt against nature. The most ethically bankrupt vagrants you'll ever see are responsible for the wrongheaded tenor of Powerboat Magazine's politics. Do give that some thought.
