Re: Trailering Question for NYC
Im not going to run it. Due to the times and abuse, I just want to tralier to Liberty State Park and its closest from L.I. to go over the Manhattan Bridge, cross Canal St thru the Lincoln Tunnel than going from the south shore of L.I. up to the GW, back south down the tpke.

This should get you running north under the Verranzano. LSP is on the left. Thats the easiest (and most fun) way i can think of getting the boat there. :D :D :D This is definately more fun. and easier. |
Re: Trailering Question for NYC
Canal Street= Holland Tunnel; 34th Street=Lincoln Tunnel

You are correct. Thats what I meant. Actually I can go either way. Midtown Tunnel or Lincoln. Either way is closer the GW Bridge. Any recommendations?? |
Re: Trailering Question for NYC
If you have the time, your best bet is to drive into the City, the way you would with your boat. Figure out the best route especially the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, ez-pass/toll booth, you are going to use. This way when you do it with the boat you will be ready.
You don't want to end up in bad situation because someone makes it sound so easy. |
Re: Trailering Question for NYC
Im familar with both routes. Its the trailering Im concerned with. Are these routes feasible with and Excursion and a 33ft boat?

Re: Trailering Question for NYC
I'm also familiar with it, but I'm trying to picture doing it with my trailer and truck. I would think that from Eastside to Westside, 34th Street is best, because it's straight and I see plenty of truckers doing it. What I'm not sure about is the best entrance into the Tunnel. There may be only one for Trucks, next time I'm in the City I'll try and take a look.
I would still do a practice run from starting point to end point if I had the time. It would make for a stress free ride the day of. |
Re: Trailering Question for NYC
You can't go through the Holland tunnel. My trailer guy tried it with my boat and got turned around by the police. Huge hassle. Thought my boat was going to arrive at Liberty Landing at 4 PM, it got there at 10 PM!

15min ride to Liberty Landing. But Active, really, why trailer when you can just run it? You are so close. I can understand if you were coming from upstate, or as far as AC, but from Jones or ER inlet, its a breeze. |
