Right now, I don't think it's too bad - The residual is only about 6" above where the normal high tide should be (in St. Pete), but they are expecting 2' - 4' surge during tomorrow's high tide. We'll see. They usually exagerate a bit with the surge predictions.

Kitten, You're seeing a big surge at the gandy....Water must be piling up in the north end of the bay.

There probably won't be a surge for us, low tide is an
strong low at 10:40 . Hurricane Frances was our highest
waterline we ever saw. (Hopefully.)

Just announced, schools are closed tomorrow!

I was just doing my research also on where and when this thing is hitting. The pressure is fairly high, and it's barely going to be a hurricane (if at all). I'm comparing this to Frances (that was our worst surge as well in recent memory), so I'm not too worried about this one.

For the Folks a bit north of us, it's going to be a different story.

The local knobs are touting 6-8 foot surges....sounds like hype to me. Honesty is lacking, I hate news people.

CNN has good coverage of the storm and is tied in to NOAA.

Good luck to all on the west coast (Florida)...

Lunar tide is receding, but the residual (surge) is increasing - definate signs of low pressure moving into the area along with some onshore winds. I just hope all is calm when the high hits tomorrow afternoon.

Shouldn't be too bad though. I'm not too worried. Looks likes it should pass pretty much to the north and it isn't getting too much stronger.

Whew.

We have had about 6 inches of rain though in abut the last 24 hours.

They got a heck of a lot more than 3 inches, I can promise you that. 5.25 is the official total here. Weather knobs....

I thought that Dave's pics would make me sympathetic but they only made me jealous.

Nice place Dave.

Hope that the damage is minimal.
