Didn't sound like bashing to me it sounded more like credit for being the only one that could keep up. :evilb:

Well we all know it's not for winning offshore races or setting speed records. Glad to know Cigarette is number #1 for something in this case letter writting! :evilb:

We all agree that Poker Runs are not "races" in the pure sense of the word. BUT the big guys have always hung it out to see who was fastest at them. In Jacksonville, the big guns from Nortech, Foutain and MTI were there. (never saw anything about any really fast Cigs being around) They went up against each other and from what has been posted, The Fountain "V" only had Speed Racer that could keep up with him. So Fountain bragged about it. Big Deal.

My understanding is that the boats involved were willing partcipants in the "match" between them. I don't believe that they were running through other boats at the speeds they were running.

What is any different in this then the trophy that until this year was given to the King of the Hudson?

Cig's comment that race boats shouldn't be allowed in poker runs makes no sense. there are probably only a few race boats that can run anywhere near the speeds that the big cats can run. So what would that accomplish? Next is he gonna say that Cats shouldn't be in poker runs either because they are too fast?

Exactly!

It's wrong to bring a V bottom with a canopy and trained race drivers but it's ok to bring non professionals in open cats that run the same speed or faster?

Brilliant logic.

In response to Biggame's comments, Ben Robertson has not worked for Cigarette since later April. Best, md

Just so you know. I didn't see it on Fountain's own website. I saw it on the Home Page of this site.

Just wondering.....Were any of the other boats backed by a boat manufacture or were they private.

Actually, I was in the fastest Fountain Pleasure boat. Team Taboo's 42' Lightning(full pleasure) w/1075's.

We ran with, or in front of, many cats. I believe the only V-bottom(s) to make it the 1st stop before us was Triple X and the race Vee.

The 42' has a proven top speed of 136.8 on GPS. We only ran about 118 at the most as the conditions dictated restraint.

I don't believe the Press release was a good move, but it was cool having Fountains' video crew on board with us on the return back to Jacksonville.
