That same weekend is the Catalina Ski Race (Sat. July 8th), the Rum Run is Sunday July 9th...everything starts Friday.

The Catalina Ski Race is usually made up of allot of SCOPE members that run, a few will also be entered in Sunday's Rum Run Race as well...I hear some run whatcha brung

Should be a pretty awesome weekend

If they run early ( 7:00-9:30 ) in the morning, Catalina Channel can be a mill-pond. . . . maybe a 4 foot, well-spaced swell max. No chop, no holes. . .

If they start at say, 2:30PM . . . and go outside the Island, it can get real ugly.
Windblown, washing-machine, BIG ugly. . . . backside of Catalina can be a BlTCH in the afternoons, in the summer . . . . worse in the winter.
