These are my thoughts too. Plenty of wide beam , slow and expensive purpose built fishing boats. With the technology of 4strokes and advanced hull designs , I would think a 8.6 beam , go fast type CC would be a good seller. Look at Concept what they've achieved w/ graphics , nice gauges and quality interiors , etc.

I think this needs to be a new catagory, not CC fishing boats. I have as much desire to to catch a fish as I do to chase down a cow. I want a narrow beam outboard hotrod with room for 8, a big boat ride and a go fast look, and I can't belive I'm that much of a minority.

Look at the results-
What would you rather have in a 38' boat? 38 Center Console 53 49.07% 38 Go Fast 55 50.93% Yet there are 200 "performance closed deck" models for every "performance CC" model.. I just think the market isn't that big for that specific kind of boat. Don't you think Fountain or someone hasnt' already thought about it, or done market surveys on it? Concept isn't the only one out there, Renegade for instance. But hey, I can probably show you how to make a small fortune building go fast CC's. I'm sure you know the rest. (start with a large fortune) |

So my 73mph fish boat would not be considered "performance"? Or are we just going for bling bling here?

I hope to sell my 38te Fountain soon! 3100 rpms @ 70 mph cruise = almost 2mpg:cool: |

I'm at 3800rpm 1.5mpg going 41mph or 4100rpm 1.3mpg going 52mph. At WOT 72-73mph I'm done to .9mpg. This seems to be the best out of all the big triple outboard boats though. And the 38TE Fountain won another magazine shoot out in this months Boating magazine.:D |

Sorry Mike- I think your Fountain is an awesome rig, however I don't think it is "sporty" enough for most to be considered an alternative to their "performance" boat.
Replacement for a "go-fast" it is not even though it will outrun a lot of the "go-fast" crowd in my local area! |

Thought I'd bring this back up.

I was in Florida last weekend and briefly looked at a 40' Tempest. Cool boat, certanly not made for fishing. The only down side.... 10' beam. Don't know crap about Tempests, but looked like a cool boat.

Don't blame me it's how I feel about things.
I have a CC for fishing and that's what I think they are for, if you want a go fast, you get a go fast. I don't think any 38' triple engine CC an match a 38' TG (or similar) in any aspect - looks, ride, sex-appeal. If you want to entertain groups of people you buy a Sea Ray. Ok - blast me now!:party-smiley-004: |

As to sex apeal, I have been maried for 20 years to a woman thats out of my league, and I'm happy to have that. As to speed. Running 100 MPH is cool for your passengers for about 38 seconds, I know, the've told me. As to ride quality THATS WHY I WANT A 40' LONG 8' WIDE BOAT!!! Someone make it for me!! |

Simple, wash it down in 5 minutes, thats the way I like to go fishing....Otherwise Id have a MidNight..like a 37:D |
First where do I vote ? But It's no secret that I have been looking for a CC. I love boats and look at them like golf clubs, you need about ten of them to play the game.
Since I moved into my new house on the water my needs, well wants have changed. I want to be able to come home from work push the button on the lift and head out for dinner or a drink or just a short cruise. A 50 Nortech with tripp 850's aint that boat. I never spend the night on the boat anymore so I don't need all the stuff it has, so a CC fits my everyday boat and for some of the time in the summer I very well might use it everyday. Now after I gid rid of the 50 it will be a 35-40 3-4 outboard CC but then I will look for a older 38ish go fast project no or half cabin maybe an old race boat to put some big power in and take it out for poker/speed runs, but a much cheaper less used boat that gets 20-30 hours a year not the 200-400 I will put on a CC when I get it. |

I know a lot of you love the narrow 8' foot beams but my 38TE Fountain has a 10'6" beam and that is what I love most about this boat. It rides great and has room but when it is anchored or drifting around in the Gulf it does not rock side to side like those narrow beams do.

What if you could have both "Performance Crossover" All performance, twin 496's or 525's but in a 37 to 42 foot center console. Tons of room, very sleek, custom paint, head for the girls, looks and performance for the guys, 1400 miles one 1 tank of gas and prices less than $200k brand new and you get to design interior and paint yourself. What do you think then? First one will be debuted at the Overland Park Boat Show in Kansas City at the end of Jan. "LOTO Edition" Painted by Visual Imagination. Is there a market for this?
|
Right now i am running a 38TE also and love it but I sure do miss the go fast. Sure would be nice to have one of each.

Buy a Cat and have the best of both worlds a stable fishing platform and speed.

I've thought about this for years .....
It's one of the main reasons that I have two boats. This year alone my 17 year old sportdeck got 300% more use than my new 1 year old CC !! Why can't someone just build a CC that has a removable sport deck? With today's technology it can be done. Like a Targa top just remove when you need it. Just to gauge interest I posted another thread with a poll to see how many people would buy it, if it were made. |

The problem is what type of C.C. do you want ?
A solid work vehicle or a pimped out SUV ? ed |
Just curious, what do you mean exactly by "go fast". Cause a '38 centre console with 3 or 4 300's can be really fast 70 miles plus+... I suppose by "go fast" you mean like 100 miles ++ right?
is it worth it? With CC's u get more people on board, you can fish, less expenses (insurance, gas, maintenance), and an adequate speed of 70- 80 miles. A friend of mine owns a cig top gun 2009, top speed about 95 miles, I must admit it's awesome, but has very limited space, and the consumption is crazy  I would go for the CC :ernaehrung004: |

lapse of reason said it been down the go fast road for alot of years got tired of all the maint, cant just jump in and go for a ride, had a 21 ' cc for a long time as a kick around also, switched to 48 express a year ago and just got a 32' fountain 300 verados, awesome boat for kicken around , jump in and go , just hose and flush when your done, has full bathroom for the girls and plenty of room.

This is the fastest and baddest cc on the water!
|
I don't see that many CC's on the west coast. I see mostly walkarounds for ocean fishing. Maybe that's because you would freeze your rear off in a CC on the Pacific. A CC has almost no wind or spray protection, and the air temperature rarely gets much above 60 on the ocean, even in SoCal. Is the CC phenomenon mostly a Florida thing?
Also I am not seeing how a CC carries any more people than any other boat. Other than the helm, I just see hard plastic everywhere, and maybe one bench seat in the back. Michael |
Mine has seats for 6 plus seats in the bow area if it is calm (4 more seats) but when running people stand and hold on to the t-top frame work. I actually miss my cat in terms of handling and speed, but you can't get the versatility, my boat is not fast (55mph) but its great on fuel and I can cruise the Bahamas, fish, dive, hang out at the sandbar ect. The cat was tough for fishing and diving and not as comfortable at the sandbar. I am thinking of getting a 28 Skater to fulfill my need for speed. CC are warm water boats though when it cold you feel the wind.
