Miami Vice

Saw The Movie And I Have To Admit That It Was Good. More Boats Would Have Been Nice. Collin Farrel Is A Horrible Actor Almost Seemed Like He Was Not Into The Movie.

Jamie was alot better than Colon. He needs to go back to high school drama class !

FeverMike 07-29-2006 10:17 AM

Re: Miami Vice

Colon was on Entertainment Tonight (ET) last night and the interviewer asked him about the boats and if he drove them and did the stunts. He said yeah I did all the driving and stunts. that is all he said ... he said nothing about the boat or boats or it was a blast or anything!
What about Johnny T? I though he did the throttle and driving and the actors acted like they drove?

The movie definately needed more boats....

the scene with mojo going towards the helicopter looked funny like it was in fast forward for some sections

Horrible acting, very slow storyline, stupid plot, hardly any boats at all, non-hot chicks, , , should I continue ?

I wasted 2 hours of my time and $7.50 X 3

DITTO. I give the movie a 5 out of 10. Acting was bad, directing was bad, it was difficult to understand alot of the dialogue for 1/3 of the movie. The screen wasn't very clear also....could have been the theater I was in. The boat scene was cool with the MTI running.

I doubt I'd even watch it again on HBO someday for free. Better movies to watch.

It wasn't a movie about boats that's for sure. Had the feel of the old series on tv. I liked all the guns!!!!!!!!

WOW! I thought it was the theater I was in! The picture clarity looked like I was watching a movie from the 80's. You can tell an 80's movie right away when watching it on tv....not very clear at all.

I May Rent Dvd Only If It Has The Deleted Scenes Of The All The Boats

Re: Miami Vice

I really liked it. I thought the boat scenes were at least realistically done.

I would have loved to see the race left in. It was kind of weird seeing Crockett run a BAD AZZ MTI that was his "pleasure" boat with "Shell Oil" and "Mercury Racing" decals all over it. W/O the race there was no background to explain that.

The racing was dropped because it added "nothing" to plot or character developement,(?) !! I'm calling BS, because starting the movie with the intended race footage would have allowed that the "partners" wre actually friends and had fun outside of work. They never had any fun/levity in their relationship, all dark and serious. :(

Re: Miami Vice

Saw the movie last night. I thought it sucked. Hated the grainy shots and Collin Farrell was not very convincing. After reading all the hype about the boats I was very dissapointed that they cut the race scene and showed all of 30 seconds of the MTI running in open water. I would only buy the DVD if I knew for sure all the boating scenes were included in the deleted scenes section.

Re: Miami Vice

I am glad I am not the only one who could not understand the mumbling of the "actors". Maybe we are just a bunch of old guys with our hearing damaged by loud boats, cars, airplanes, guns and rock bands.

Remembering the old days, and knowing this movie was garbage and boring compared to what actually happened. :D

I say again, let's make our own fing movie! It would be awesome!

Just got back from watching it. Better than I thought from reading the responses on here. It wasn't bad nor great, it's what it is. Not much different from the original. A few boat scenes, a little grindin, drugs, Miami motif, you got the picture. Later. JJ

Told ya... Can't improve on the original.

Even though the boat scenes are always good -- in any movie of any year. But the '80s Miami Vice is and always will be the '80s Miami Vice.

Enjoy the movie for what it is. A mere remake of an original.

Ted, check my thoughts on this in post 6 or 7 or so......give me more feedback.

Oh yeah, "Driven" was a movie about homo race car drivers, 'splains why you wanted to kill yourself watching it since the "star" had a chick instead of you......... :D

Saw it Friday Night, Movie was a near miss, It had so much potential with or with out the boats, I think editing wrecked the movie.

The movie was no where near the quality of the series. I thought the characters were supposed to be boat racers which would have tied the race in. When you watch the series, Crockett and Tubbs were a couple players, it showed alot of Miami surroundings, drug deals, fast boats, fast cars, and casual sex. This thing was a dark movie filmed close up with a couple action scenes and a love story back drop. I watched alot of the filming and hoped for something much better like Heat or at least as good as the series. I now understand why Don Johnson supposedly said no.

i think some people have to go back and watch afew episodes... they were great but cheasy and dated.... would u like to see a batman movie resemble the series

it was dark, gritty and undergroundish....which made it so good...and CONTEMPORARY..... and as believable/authentic as a hollywood action movie gets

didn't you see alot from the old episodes? The movie reminded me of smugglers blues and the other episode were Truty was in the trailor with the bomb?

Re: Miami Vice

I thought the movie was excellent. One of the things that made this movie worth watching, was that it's not "Fast and the Furious" or "Bad Boys". I don't like movies where they just try to jam in mind numbing action throughout the whole thing. I've always liked the look of Michael Mann movies. The dark, cool lighting with some interesting original score playing. Not cars flipping, boats jumping over docks while hip-hop's blaring.

I knew the movie wouldn't have any gravity defying, unrealistic effects. Just good camera work, and great sound. Signature Michael Mann. He doesn't compromise his work so that the only thing in the film is non-stop action to keep ADD victims awake.

I loved it. I can only hope this franchise gets a couple more sequels.
