I have been off the computer since Friday and I come to read about how tragic the weekend has been.

As I sit here and read through this all I can thinking of is praying for the family and friends of those who were lost and those who survive; May God easy your suffering and speed your healing.

Our sincerest condolences to all of those that this tragedy has touched. Unfortunately, I first heard about this accident on another forum where our "family" was being roasted over the coals for the sport that we love. Everyone is so quick to pass judgement without knowing the facts and it's sad.... truly sad.

As the father of a 7-month old with another one on the way, I just can't imagine what the children will have to endure. It truly brings a tear to my eye. Other than that... I really don't know what to say. This has been a very tragic labor day weekend and will be engrained in my memory for a long time.

Every now and then something touches us all in ways we cannot begin to imagine. This is one of those times.A tragedy beyond comprehension. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of these two families especially the children.I read this post the day the accident happened, but could not find the words till now. When things like this happen it reminds how fragile life really is, and that no amount of money can ever substitute for the memories we share with family and friends. Those memories are what bring us together at these Poker Runs, and leaves an indelible mark in the fabric of our lives.Let us all join together as members of the boating community, and pray for these families when they need us most.Mr Gibson,I have never met you but I pray for your recovery both mentally and physically, and know that every member of OSO and the boating community will be marching by your side on your road to recovery through our prayers.

Not much more can be said that already hasn't. Seeing the scene was like a bad dream.

While the Gibson's and Mineo's were well known and in the thoughts and/or prayers of so many, they leave family including children. However, Justin and Amy Lane who are not well known, need to be lifted up in thoughts and/or prayers as well. They have 2 small children who no longer have a Mommy and Daddy. Keep them in your hearts also.

I can only offer my condolences, thoughts and prayers to all the families and those left behind. In the case of the Lanes it is really tough for two small children. This is not to lessen the loss of the of the other families, only to make all of us pause and think before we get behind the controls of our boats.

Unbelievable tragedy. I have thought about this for days and can only offer my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and the boating communities that this has affected. I am sure that this will be a wake up call to anyone that does not respect the power of any mechanical creation that we tend to enjoy. Remember to put life itself as a priority and control any risk environment with your total commitment.

Re: lake texoma accident !!!

Wow, I was out of touch in the UP and heard this from a friend, I was involved in the crash at SMOKE last season and it makes me sick to see this happen, and on a much larger scale. My prayers go out to those touched by this, including the OSO family. On a side note....almost 500 posts, over 76,000 views, I am sure those who passed are looking down and smiling at the out pour of well wishes, prayers, and efforts to help those who were left behind. You always wonder if you would be missed when you leave this earth for a better place, I could only hope that 1/10th of the number of people on this one site will remember me. I sure wish I could do more than give condolences and monetary relief....if I could just turn back time. I am not pleased with the tools who have made this a chance to spout untruths and rummors, we know better than this, we have seen this too many times to fall into that trap. It looks like newbies with agendas and no moral fiber so they can just take their miserable life somewhere else, the seasoned OSOers know better and deserve credit for weeding these people out and reminding them this is no time or place to place blame, guess on the cause or do anything more than offer those involved all the help that we can give and let them know we are all in this together. All I can say is I was lucky enough to meet Bruce and Myra at SMOKE this year, they had a mechanical problem that kept them out or the event but worked tirelessly to give to the kids there. May they rest in peace.

I'm coming in on this really late it seems. I was in Louisiana for the past week dealing with my own personal heartache, I found out about this today as I was driving across TX from a friend. All of the sudden my own problems seem very, very small. Get well soon Bruce, were all pulling for you.

Re: lake texoma accident !!!

Jennifer,

I know I am coming in a little late on this, but I wanted to tell you I have pictures from that day. I was on the Bumcombe Creek point taking pictures as the boats came in and went out during the poker run. The pictures I have are fairly high resolution and their faces are pretty clear. If you would like them, please do not hesitate to email me and let me know - [email protected].

I struggled with this tragedy all weekend, and the knot in my stomach still has not gone away. My prayers and thoughts go out to the families and friends of all involved. The only comfort I have found in the wake of this terrible and unfortunate tragedy is that they all died doing something they loved.

Tim did an interveiw with a local TV station about Bruce and Myra, and powerboating in general on Tuesday,, Thanks Tim. If the link doesn't take you to the video, but it does go to the News Channel 5 homepage,, scroll to the right to the video section and you'll see it listed there. If this doesn't work maybe someone with a little computer knowledge can help me out.

I just learned of this and our family is praying for the ones involved. Terrible accident and I agree, no one should assume anything - accidents happen - ie: Crock hunter.

While I have been involved with OSO now for about 3 yrs, the name is new and Mitch that was well said. we are a Family of boaters and thats most important - especially in a situatioin like this. It's nice to see everyone united in support and prayers.

The OHP seems to know how the accident happened and at what angle the boats collided but are still here trying to figure out why one boat suddenly turned into the path of the other one.
