I have a 1987 31 foot Cigarette Decathlon with tripple Mercury 220 outboards that is a center console. I'm told that the hull was the same that was used on the 31 bullet. I really like having all the extra room to move about the boat when docked but still have a place to crash for the night. What did you order?

RLW: I looked for used boats as well. The used ones I looked at included Scarab Sport, Fountain CC and Contenders. New boats I looked at included the above along with Concept, Whitewater, Strike, Island Runner, Jupiter, Bluewater, Powerplay, and more.
Cgarrett: I did look at the new 33’ Cig. But it was priced at $149,900 with twin 300’s and that was above my price target. It is a very sweet rig.
I went with a 28’4” Monza with twin Merc 225 EFI’s. The boats are built of fiberglass with Kevlar reinforcements and are quite light, but not to light. The 28’ is about 4,000 lbs plus motors. Monza builds just +/- 20 semi-custom boats per year (mine is #15 this year) and offers four models being a 26’, 28’, 30’ & 34’. Being a semi-custom builder I was able to play with certain design features while also adding some options that may be difficult to get from a production builder. In addition the builder really seems to take their time in the construction process. My boat has been in the mold for over three weeks. The vice president and part owner of the company is Richie Powers who has a long history of racing powerboats. I deal with him on all matters that makes for a smooth process.
Can't wait to get it as I just sold my Checkmate Starflite last week.

Just got test results via Lake X from an almost identical boat as the one I am building. This boat had OPTIMAX's mine will have EFI's, that will save me about 100 pounds. Test was done with 160 gallons of fuel, 2 adults and standard gear. Boat weight with fuel was 6,402 pounds with 23', 4 blade Revolution prop. Top end was 65 mph. Not bad for a fishing boat huh. Can't wait to get mine
