I've been at Mercury Racing up in Fondulac Wisc, while they were running some of the 525's and all the #'s I seen were between 530-540 hp. And that was this spring.

Btw, that 35 that was run on that test run, was the "first" time the boat was in the water.

Wow  If that's the case, why did Merc bother building the 600!

If Fountain does it then it must have been rigged, or not stock engines. Come on people, just be happy for them for their accomplishments.

Well said!!!
And I have been told by my friend who is also my dealer, that it was bravo drives with sport master shorties with 5 blade Maximus props.

Get the straight edge out and start sanding the hook out of the bottom....

Re: Reggie's new 35 Lightning does 103 with 525's!!!

You people are missing the big change. Staggering the engines creates a better c/g and the boat runs flatter on the water using less trim and thus utilizing the stepped hull. Look at the speeds the 38 runs with staggered engines. All of the 35s earlier had c/gs further to the rear thus taking more trim to raise the hull, =s horsepower loss. Raising the hull takes more horsepower than running the boat straight. I have run a 38 with staggered 525s at 112.026 setting the record in 2004. I think it is quite an accomplishment and am proud to own a boat that the company is never satisified with past accomplishments. Keep it up Fountain.

. But who is actually going to ask them to prove that they are stock 525's ?

No one....

Otherwise.....cool thread..... :drink:[/QUOTE]

Simple answer..... their dealers and customers will expext those speeds and will most likely see them! on every new boat off the line and tested at the factory!

The original 35's were single stepped, not double stepped like this particular one.
