I had one of these custom fit to my hitch setup:

It secures the coupler to the hitch ball in the event of coupler failure, hitch ball nut failure and also secured from theft with a lock and visual deterrent.

Also, I hook the trailer-brake break-away chain to a DIFFERENT part of the truck than the hitch. That way in case of catastrophic hitch failure, the break-away chain should still be attached to the truck, and will engage the brakes.

Gino- What year Freightliner and which engine?

There are reports of many engine problems. Freightliner at one time bought engine components from CAT but assembled the engines themselves- many of these are dropping valvles at 175k miles or so. They also are very problematic, and CAT will NOTstand behind them- they didn't assemble them.

Know a guy who tows a big horse trailer got stuck in Tampa for a week & 1/2 waiting for a replacement engine.
