Though not on par in terms of legendary status with Cigarette (whaffos still call all our boats Cigarettes or Cigar boats, not Fountains), Fountain also has huge brand recognition. Regardless of ownership, Fountain will never die.

As for T2X knowing everything ... I'm one of his biggest fans. I might not always agree with him, but at least I know he forms his opinions based on experience and a solid grasp of history. He tends to be able to back his opinions. He's not just shooting from the lip. As I'm sure you'll agree.

That said, I think it would be a little disingenuous for him to say he was just posting bad news for Fountain as a public service, just to keep us all informed. But hey, I'm a newbie. What do I know?
Since you are new, I'll cut you some slack! Welcome to OSO. The first thing that you should know about me is that I very rarely am serious in any of my posts. OSO is merely a way to do quick breaks from a very busy work schedule. I'm also a fan of t2x, but sometimes can't resist poking fun at him.

By the way, suck it up and become a paid member, you'll be able to see this:

Actually, if it had been good news I would have posted that as well. I do try to be fair. I will admit, however, that based on all of the hype and "success" B.S. surrounding his Reggieness..... it makes me giggle to see him lose money every now and then.

I've known him, personally, for over 30 years and in reality wish him well....... but if anyone on earth ever needed a regularly scheduled deflation...........

1. According to the chart, the owners of FPB cannot be too happy w/ performance of their company.
2. Old School, you have now made my annual monetary contribution to this site worth it. It should be my new screen saver.

Unless your a public company then it's the stockholders first, that is unless you're trying to become Ken Lay.

What I can't believe that is that Mellon, Oppenheimer and Citigroup own some of their stock. They must have a broker that has a Fountain and bought some to round out a sector.

Maybe Reggie decided to "defer" some net income until his new pay package kicked in

At its regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting held October 11, 2006, the Compensation Committee recommended to the Board of Directors a base salary increase and a revised profit bonus program for its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Reginald M. Fountain, Jr. The Board of Directors approved an annual salary of $520,000 for Mr. Fountain to be effective immediately, and he is eligible to receive an annual profit bonus equal to 8 percent of net profit.

I agree its stockholders first. I think fountain Powerboats
do all they can to maximize profits in an otherwise
"difficult" industry. That said, Fountain did not start
out as a publicly held company. It started as all business
do...a guy with an idea, some balls and a plan to better
his life. I think his plan probably succeded to certain
extent. It certainly doesn't seem like he is overpaid
and just raping the company. Lets face it,500k isnt
alot of money compared to most ceo's. Hell, your
average auto dealership owner makes more than that.

I know its a joke, but why is everyone so bent on Reggies
appearence. No different than Skip Braver running around
with his 400lb gut hangin over his pants. The guy likes
what he likes. Not my choice, but to each his own.
Nobody tells you how to dress..do they??

I do know one thing, I met him at the NYC boat show.
I had no plan of purchasing a new boat. He sat there
and B.S.ed with me about my 15 year old 32 for 15 minutes.
And couldnt have been nicer or more knowlagable.
At the same show Paul Fiore wouldnt give me the time
of day. He was wearing a suit...with no gold jewlery

P.s. Wrink..I know your a good guy. I'm just razzin ya.
