That was 1995. DJD is close but not exact.
It was the first race for the little cat - at least new owners. They had a problem and cut across the course heading for the pits. Zerodefect couldn't turn away at 120+mph.
Once the boat washed up on the beach, propeller markes came right up the hatch, between the two occupants and continued across the front deck. Amazing no one was killed.
