Default Baja 236 trade/retail value questions?

www.geocities.com/baja236forsale

Is my boat priced right for selling? NADA with trailer is $20,085 low and $22,895 avg. How much do you think a dealer would give me on trade? How exactly do trades work- will they trade my boat + cash for another used boat? Do they have to own the boat or do trades work on boats they have on consignment? (sorry its kind of a newbie question I have never traded anything in before) I am looking to get in a 28-33' twin engine $30-50k range. My boat is fully detailed and ready to resell. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Dealers will take your boat on trade plus cash for a new or used boat they own. How much real money they will give you for it, who knows. Buy "real money," I mean if they are asking 50k for a boat, they will probably give you 20k against the 50k price. Realistically though, you could have bought the 50k boat for 42k cash. You really got 12k for your boat.

If they have 50k brokered boat, chances are they won't take your boat on trade. Usually they can't make enough on the commission off the brokered boat to make it worth it to buy yours. That being said, they can always tell the owner of the brokered boat whats up and shoot them a number to make it worth it. Chances are the owner of the 50k brokered boat really wants about 40k out of it. 5k of 50k is for negotiating the price down and 5k in commission. It all depends on if they make money on deal and how much. A brokered boat on their lot costs them nothing. Your boat is costing them interest every month.

Bottom line is being able to sell yours and deal in cash will get you the best deal.

I hope you get that out of your boat. I have a 1995 236 and would like to sell mine also but I don't have it listed yet. I talked to a guy that works at the marina by us and to buy it outright they would look up the value of the boat and then take another 20% off of that and that's what they would give me.

sold a 312 Formula a couple months ago. Private sale, took 80% of book value....and it was clean! Dealer trading will net you even less.

I sold my 96 232 with bascially the same options as yours back in 2004 for 19,500 on a 2000 galvanized roller trailer. Nada wa something like 25K... I think your close and should get around 17K
