animalhouse, what is the outcome of your boat with Sundance Marine?

Sounds like someone change out stock props and engine heights.

They have changed all of the electrical equipment that was submerged, pumps, wiring, etc... and have wired the bilge pumps correctly. We have a sea trial in Stuart on Tuesday, then we will dial the props in and the x-dimension. This is a little tricky as this is the first quad 275 Verado boat, and the weight, as well as tourque is different from the 2 stroke boats, so we will have to spend the day playing with wheels.

The bottom line is they are willing to make sure it's right. It is just a shame that this wasn't done prior to delivery. I will let you know what it runs once it is finally dialed in, our guess is 82-84 We are going to try lab finished 28's on the outers and 26's inside, then keep trying props from there.

I know how long it took Reggie, so you go time yourself, I will sit at Sloppy Joes and hang out, and if you beat the record we can talk about the 100,000

animalhouse, I did not realize you got one of the quad 275 boats! I have a triple 275 boat so my mounting holes will be different. I bet 83-84 is the number you should see with a light load. The quad Hooter boat I was on did 83 with 250 2 strokes 3/4 fuel and with 820lbs of people.

as far as Midnights being slow; think about that for a moment. they're heavy for a reason, and that reason is seaworthiness. i challenge you to a long weekend of boating; smooth water, 4-6 footers (yeah, they do come up suddenly), rain, slosh, 4-6 footers, your woman on board, your kids on board, etc. which boat would you rather take your friends and family 100 miles offshore in? that slapped-together production fountain, or a real boat that the navy runs?

come to think of it, why don't you bring a fountain down to miami and we'll ocean-race to key west and back? we'll make it interesting, say a wager of $100,000. and no, I don't want the title to your fountain.

Great boat and don't get me wrong as I'm not slamming you or it...BUT...that type of cat is not a planing boat, thus it is smooth but also not fast at all. In real 6 foot waves you will be pounding the center flat surface between the pods real bad and sneezing water back on you.

Whoa, now that is a strange comparison. Never thought I would see a Twin Vee compared to a quad engine Fountain. If you want to compare apples to oranges, I would submit this little jewel for your consideration. New 82' Viking. It seats 15 people on an ultra-suede sofa in complete comfort while sipping mimosas. Probably pounds in a chop though because it is a v-bottom.

Bottom line, that is a strange comparison.

Wrong......It is a full planing hull.....
Will do about 65 mph when Im done....
Right now it does an honest 50mph with
2 225 mercs.....I am gonna try a pair of
300XS's......If that dont work, I will put
Trips on it, and ride next to the Fountain
at top speed... Forget the Viking, thats a different
animal.... ..THIS CAT WILL BLOW AWAY
ANY CENTER CONSOLE ON THIS WEBSITE!!!
HANDS DOWN!
IM TALKIN' RIDE COMFORT COMBINED WITH SPEED.
NOT JUST RAW POWER & SPEED....
Also, this CAT does not sneeze or tunnel slap.
It gets up WAY on top and cuts like magic....
Any questions, ask >> "LIGHTSPEED" <<
He rigged the boat..

Sorry, you are only getting around 42-44mph with twin Yamaha or Suzuki 250's. Adding another 250 if you can mount it might net you low to mid 50's. The hull is not a true planing hull it slices through the water hence the smooth ride in 2-4' seas and chop. I am not doubting a non or semi planing cat, Twin Vee, World Cat, Glacier Bay all are nice but are a much different style than a V bottom center console. Remember the Cobra Cat CC? That was a true planing Cat...fast too!

BigMike, you getting a Viking? Hey when are we going boating bro?

BigMike, you getting a Viking? Hey when are we going boating bro?
Thats funny....Last time I drove it....It jumped on a full plane
and got right on top.....Your correct about the Glacier bays
and world cats....They are Displacement and slow....The Twin Vee's ride different from those others
you mentioned.....Infact
a Skater is a DISPLACEMENT hull untill you hit like 50mph.
They ride wet and sloppy, but once they pack enough air
in the tunnel and rise above the chopp at about 65-70 the
ride smooths out.....
I had the 26 Twin
Vee Cat with a pair of 225s mercs and it did close to 70mph....I can verify a 68mph GPS run with 22 Mazco
choppers at 6000rpm....Are you telling me that boat was
a displacement hull too?
"LIGHTSPEED" rigged that boat too.....
I had the fastest one built in the country....
I think you are totally wrong about high speed of only 50+mph
with tripps...??? I am almost at 50 now.... The 2-stroke
225s are faster than the 4-stroke 250's and much lighter.
You hit the head on the nail when you said 42-44mph
with 4 bangers on the 36' TV.....You def. know your chit...
But obviously you have never took a ride in one of these?
Nothing at all like a Glacier Bay. It's Much better in a following sea....Those sukas like to sneeze alot....
I will keep you informed on the power transformation...
And I will eat my hat if I dont see 65mph with tripps!!!
Like I said...Im gonna try a pair of 300s first....???
Then maybe tripp 300s......The only thing is that this is
a true tunnel hull....So I will need to fiberglass a pod in
the middle to direct clean water to the middle prop.
