tssteph- you got all the graphics advice and offers to help that you will ever need right there in less than 12 hours! MitcherT hit it right on the head- dont frustrate yourself, you may lose your focus and enthusiasm for the project. Get some colored pencils to do your sketches on xerox copies of the template and develop your idea the old fashioned way.

MT, fwiw, the later versions of Corel have a feature that allows you to cut direct to plotter. Although I invested a lot of time learning it, I prefer Illustrator now because it works so seamlessly with Photoshop, which I am officially addicted to.

Yeah, I agree witht he compatibility issue between AI, Signlab and Photoshop. I can design my graphics for the visual, isolate it in a layer, and import it into signlab and make it 50 ft long and i've got the plot for the boat.

Powerful, powerful programs...with a high learning curve.

I believe that Rodney at Raticle Graphics also uses AI.

Thanks Guy for chipping in on this on.

rbr- can you post an image of the font? I have over 30,000 fonts in my library- if I don't have it, I can usually figure out where to find it.

heres a a cool video that shows some of the effort involved in generating a rendering from scratch.

http://www.idleriot.com/media/videos/Cool/3696/Amazing_MS_Paint_Artist.html

you need a high level of artistic ability and vision from the minds eye to do some of the more involved projects.
