Looks like you took the first sqirt! I would like to know from those who have experienced the ride on a couple of different ones and explain what they felt in the ride and comfort. Not just who is the best. Thats a matter of opinion. I want to hear the details of the ride.

Thats what i mean, it's a matter of opinion, you'll never get a straight answer. Truth of the matter is, They are all great boats, you just have to find the one that fits your personal style and budget.

Drove a 36 gladiator and have ridden on a stag 37 gtx. Hated the gtx! not a very good riding boat. The Gladiator was cool just not enough room. The Fountain, well, what else can you say. That would be my first choice after being on the other two.

OL40SVX 12-07-2006 06:53 PM

Re: Which Sit Down is the best

The Fountain will most likely have the best ride, but only seat 4 people. They have only built 3-4 37 GTX's, and it's a toss up between the Gladiaor and the ZR. When sell our Hustler were either going to a faster Gladiator or a ZR. Also it's exactly what Tazz said.

a 42 beak with stock power and bravos will break the drives constantly, its a weight issue not power. a 42 pr with 6's is a nother story. i ahve riggred and run this boat.

a 36 glad is a bad ass boat but needs merc 5 blds and a set of 750's t orun pretty much maintanance free. again i have rigged and run this boat.

the 37 is a squirly hand full at speed, if you mean the older 37's dont really care for it. and too have rigged and ran.

just my 2 cents

ZR 1ST HAS A NICE ROUGH WATER RIDE AND A CABIN BELOW, 2ND 37 OL ONLY BE ON THE RACE BOAT SINGLE STEP RAN SMOOTH ON FLAT NICEN STRAIGHT, AND INTHE ROUGH OFF OF CAPE COD KICKED ASS. OH NO CABIN :D CIG NOT ALOT OF ROOM AND FOUTIAN NEEDED NEW TEETH FROM THE POUNDING OFF THE CAPE AND BACK  , BUT GO OUT FOR TEST RIDES THEN YOU WILL KNOW.

The Fountain PR is a kick-ass ride, did the KW Poker Run a 525 boat last year. I ran the sticks, F-N-IGuy drove. That is a sick mofo.

Gladiators rock, I have been in a few including the OSO boat, which I drove in a PR with Steve on the sticks. Awesome, but I would beed a very specific cockpit setup for that boat.

38ZR seems to be a hellacious rough water boat. I would really like a cahnce to run one.

37GTX has been explained as a "different" type of ride........I would only consider a 39' GTX......

Monstaaa,
That does not make sense. Why would you need 750,s to run maintenance free? Maybe you meant to run 100 MPH plus?

Build quality...they are all made very well. I'd prefer the 42 Fountain. YOU need to go sit in them all and see which one YOU like best.

I have driven the Donzi ZR and the Gladiator. The donzi was older but had a nice heavy feel and ran Okay with 500EFI's. My back still hurts from SOTW this year in a Gladiator. Thats the only 2 that I have experience with. A 42PR with 6's is a boat I would like to run.

The Zr has no cabin. They built one with a half cabin with access from the deck hatches. The 37 Ol GTX is the only one that has a cabin. All Zr's are built as race boats. The Gladiator is a more flashy boat, the OL is an OL, and the Fountain has the hull but not quality. I've heard the 37OL likes to ride on that one step and it's not a very comforable ride for passengers. It's all personal preference as mentioned multiple times in this thread.

Plus the Ol cabin in the 37 is good for kids only. We are talking small.

Yep, it's pretty much useless. It's only good for storage which the others have up front trough deck hatches.

You have to count the 38ZR Comp.. One of the nicest sit down v hulls on the market, we are building one with 700 NXTs. Solid ride and can fly straight when she hits big rollers, doesn't kill your back and there is no chine walk at all, we had one that ran 120mph and I loved the boat.

Matt,

Everyone's "perceptions" here are different. Then you have the guys who own name brand "X" and say it's the best, no matter what.

Bottom line is you have to go see each boat personally and run them-- then decide which is best for you and your needs.

P.S...... The Virgin Gladiator is in the classifieds for $100K. Looks like a sweet deal to me.

Will this particular boat be ready for a certain boat show in the new year??:D:D:D Possibly in the water??:D:D I heard the boat doesn't like 110-120 but at 120 it settles down, from a very high source.

I disagree the ZR COMP HAS NO CABIN, the 2006 ZR has a cabin just like the 43zr and no not the zx the comp has the center console solid dash in it.

Yes the Zr has a cabin, but he is looking at sit down boats which implied the Zr comp. The sit down boat was just called a Zr at first, so people still call it by that, which was before the new stand up ones came out. I wonder if they will build the 43 comp with a cabin!!:D:D:D

forgot to add Richie Zul to that package. and yes to run over 100 reliably and almost maintanance free. i say this because of the gladiator irigged which had 759 Zuls and it ran over 100 easily and was in fact very very reliable
