Interesting. Did you try a 5 blade? How high did you start and where did you end up with what speed and slip?

We started out 3" above the bottom. The boat bow steered. I didn't try a 5 blade because more blades causes more transom lift and that was already the issue. The top speed was 120 with 16% slip.

How deep did you end up with the 4 blade? We’re you able to get good bow lift with the 4 blade?

We ended up 3 below the bottom. The boat was a straight bottom with a notch. I ended up using a 3 blade. My setup didn't even like a 4 blade. I probably could have come up a little (maybe a half inch) and reduced the slip but I decided 120 was enough .

i think like said by others you’d need big HP to make up the difference for the added hassle. It would be a good place to start but I would bet you could maybe lower the drive some. Check 300s old checkmate was a 6 I believe 3 below the bottom. My boat however did not like the drive that low. Been there and was disappointed. The more I raised the drive the better the boat handled and the faster it went.

A 1100-1200 HP engine and the Velvet 72L-HP is waiting in my workshop.
The one starts above and ends below bottom. The other starts below and ends above.
Think it's difficult to say what's best for me now.
😂

It’s easier to come down than go up. Not sure what the biggest spacer is for the #6, 2”?
