26 Scarab Prop

Re: 26 Scarab Prop
I ran the slip numbers and came up with 14%, but I understand that mercury props are frequently up to 1" less than advertised. Running the numbers with 24" gives 10% so you are somewhere in that range. I don't know how much more speed you have available in the boat to be honest. Typically, mirage props run pretty fast. The main thing you have left to work with is trim. I am assuming that you are trimming it out for best top speed. Also, boat loading can make a big difference. A full tank of gas and a few people can easily knock off a couple mph. I don't know where your peak hp is at. If the engine was dynoed, you should have a sheet. Try to prop it so that your peak rpm = max hp rpm and your slip is in a good range (10% is good) and that is as fast as it can run. I am having doubts as to whether that boat ran that fast before. Labbing a prop is going to increase slip, but should also increase mph as well (unless you are already on the limiter).

By the way, if you are near Central Fl, I have a couple of props that fall into the range that you need. You are welcome to try them out. Don't go crazy like I did trying out different styles of props. I have 5 props right now ( 2 Hydro Q-4, 2 Bravo 1 and 1 Mirage) and am thinking of getting another one.
