Double check these compression numbers. If he's at 160# you're just over the limit of pump gas. (Normally 150 is about as high as you want to go on a 260.)

You can add an alt to any older 2.5 here is the info. I had these on my 2.4 Bps and they ran like new engines. I did not use my charger for two years.

the 2.5 efi race motor is a masterpiece of 2 cycle enginuity. i have rigged 3 32 skaters with these and 1 36 skater w/ them.
1- the center motor gets it's ass wipped.
2- you may have to add a center pod/ sponson. this will help
alot, with out sacrificing too much speed for v.s the cost
of replacing sheared cases and poped power heads on that
center engine.
3- they always charge
4- even though they have a shift interupt shift them in gear
you'll be turning big prop's
5- if they are 15" mid sections they have 2 1/2 inches of built
in set back
6- the blocks are all machined mating surfaces so they have
o-rings every where instead of gaskets
7- hopefully they have 2:1 gear ratio's which helps extend life
of cases and drasticly improves acceleration.
8- they idle great.
9- they love 7500 r.p.m, they start making power after 6000+
if you run them around at 5000 rpm you will loose life on
them.

in short they rule . better than the 3x's for c.g reasons especiallyu in the ruff water. diamond marine is the absolut guru's of these engines. i myself have had a couple spin well over 10,000 rpm, and not just for a run. the noise is awesome. dont wait swap the console and get hangin and bangin.

good luck
