Default Trim Tilt pump on merc outboard questions

I have an older set of 2.4 200 hp mercs they have the trim pumps mounted inside the boat. I was wondering are you able to use the new style pumps. They seem easier to find and are cheaper what is the difference?

Yes,
Get the MerCruiser pumps, they are much faster than the OB units. Old drag racer trick.

OS,
I couldn't enlarge your second pic, but that looks like the MerCruiser unit with the plastic translucent reservoir. The motor is the same for both, but the I/O unit's valve body is plumbed to flow more volume, resulting in faster trim in an outboard application.

the pumps will work in an outboard but the fittings are different on the line to pump, you can get the adapters from napa or another company in ny, if you need help with the part #'s pm me and i will get them for you
