I had the same gas concern when I owned my 29 Outlaw. So I sold the boat. It was a pretty upsetting day for me as the wife and kids loved it. Shortly afterward I picked up a 29 Fever with a single 500 EFI. I don't regret the decision a bit. As a matter of fact I think the Fountain is much more fun to drive. Fuel MPG is actually just a touch better but the service work is way CHEAPER. The top speed usually the same and in some water 2 -3 mph faster. (thanks Reggie) Only one motor and drive to oil change, change plugs, winterize, etc. etc. Only one Whipple Charger to buy...

Only one XR drive to buy...

I'm sure if I did my own maintainence it wouldn't be a big deal but it's all certified Mercury mech for this kid.

On any given day we only run the boat 45-60 minutes. Find a nice spot and sit for the day. I just dont see gas prices as a major factor in the way I boat......if anything I will try to drive my truck less. If you enjoy it, continue to do it. If it really does break your bank than dont.
