John will be sorely missed. He was one of the reasons I joined the Chesapeake Bay Power Boat Association, always made me feel welcome and proud to be a part of it.

I can remember getting under John's skin while we sat up every boat show, he would yell and look over his glasses at me then we would get done and go have a beer! It was great. I remember a saying he had when we would go out and get a drink and it took the bar maid a long time to get to us, he would say outloud mind you, "THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE FOR A BAR!" then lite up a cigar.

I have known John for over 16 years, while he was involved with Empty Pockets race team as well as Team Priority. I also had the pleasure of being an inspector at some of the races in Baltimore and Ocean City. He was a great person and a great friend. Even though we butted heads while at work, we still had respect for each other. He and his family are very couragous! I just need to say, "I'll miss you Johnny!"

God speed!
Your friend forever!
John Smith

I even think he called in sick this day!

John was a real joy to be around and he loved boat racing. He was the Pace Boat captain for all OPA Races in Cambridge MD.

He was a hell of a nice guy. Rest in Peace.

Met John at Offshore when he introduced me to another 38 Signature owner locally in MD. Heard some good Empty Pockets stories and told John I hoped he'd sell me my first new boat.

Will miss him....

I am Tony Silveira's wife. I don't know if you remember me - I wasn't involved with the boats much. But I remember John. He was the nicest guy. The first time we met, he was so welcoming and friendly that I felt like I had known him for years. I am sorry to hear that this happened. He was great with my children - they love him. Heather was quite upset when I told her about this. We hope Brenda and everyone will be alright.
