Air shift crash boxes

I have been trying to master the art of docking with crash boxes. I give up. It is so confusing. It's about 5 steps every time you want to shift . I don't think transmissions will hold up to the 1550's in the boat. I need an alternative. Someone said they have air shift crash boxes. Anyone have any info? If you know of another alternative, please let me know. Thank you

Hey Gino, As you know we shift crash boxes and have learned a few tricks to make it easier. Give arruda a call he may be able to help. One thing we learned was to shift into reverse (while outside the marina ) after running hard to unseat the gears. Then prooceed to the dock

We use SCS gearboxes. 25 races and still going strong

SCS does them. I looked into it. The dry clutch pack is similar to top fuel drag race cars. They should be able to handle a puny 1550 hp compared to 6000hp. About 10k a side.

check with Racecrafters, they are running airshift crashboxes on the 40 ft skater Sorcerer and they are running twin 2000 hp's http://www.sorcererboating.com/racec...prodClutch.htm

A drag race clutch should handle this power. I'll assume the SCS is a drag race clutch with some kind of "non-foot" actuation.

But........clutch housing may change the motor location, or require shorter drive shafts (assuming you have them).

SCS is the way to go, Race Crafter's uses SCS's !

Mike Sage has refined it to work even better.
It now has to air systems in the event your shifting a lot
the air can keep up with you. Also the is a micro switch
that was corrected to make it work correctly instead of
hit and miss. All this has to be used with NEW Latham throttles, cause they build them to work with Mike's / SCS
system.
