You picked one of the best places in my opinion. Durango is a very cool small town. Much more cozy and enjoyable for a couple than the Summit COunty scene. Purgatory has some good runs. Durango is sweet in the summer. Too many things to do.

I went a couple years ago and since you are from the same area as me, your first day will probably will be spent barfing or with a splitting headache or both. Nobody here mentioned that we are coming from 500' elevation to about 5000' BASE elevation. The bod has to adjust to it. Drink lots of non-alcohol liquids and if you do any beer drinking it hits you about 10 times harder than it does here! The sled excursion in that area is a good one and is worth going on to! GREAT skiing mountain and it is big. My thighs were BURNING by the end of the each day and it blizzard the whole time I was there. Wish I was going to!

Luvoffshore makes a very valid point that no one up to that point has made. Elevation. Growing up in Aspen I still remember the elevation the "Welcome to Aspen" sign had printed on it as you drove into town. 7908 ft above sea level.
Definetly lay off the alcohol.
