My buddy had one and it was a great boat..... that was until we got t- boned by a 25ft Crownline at about 45mph. We jumped off just before impact. No one hurt.

My Libby has been running great. Still tweaking it though. 68.7 mph on GPS with 1 person and 1/2 tank, but seems to have the power for much more. It was chine walking and thought it should have hit 70+. The boat with 23" Mirage Plus went 66.4 GPS with 6 adults and a full tank of fuel (human weight approx 1,000 - 1,050#). It also went 67.9 GPS with 3 people (550 - 560#) and 3/4 tank.

Here's one I found on eBay- might make someone a nice starter boat or a fun second.... This is the same year as the one I had (damn- two decades ago!). I love the classic old style offshore look of these boats, and they handle like a much larger boat- they can carve great turns!!! Also a very nice cabin for a 21'. This guy states 40mph- something's up with that because I had an identical package and it ran right at 50 (Laser SST pitched to 20" with cav holes plugged). They're a great candidate for a stroker SBC- I think they can handle more power no problem.

My Liberator is now at 69.5 mph in flat water with a stock prop. With some chop and a labbed prop, it will be over 70.

The better of these two went for less than $5K- a pretty good buy for a very nice starter (and capable) boat!
