Twin OB instead of single I/O?

TUFFboat, your boats are pretty dang cool!!

The reason for a single I/O is because twin I/Os weigh a ton (literally!) and are expensive and painful to service.

Outboards are light and cheap to service. So I woudl guess twin outboards would probably be faster and cheaper to own than a single I/O. What do you think?

Crash.. In my case, the twin O/B and bracket weighs about the same as the 525. The HP of the twin 250xs are more like 260hp x2 which is about the same as the 525. The weight is shifted a little more forward (so we did a notch) but with all that being said, there is the savings of one gearcase worth of drag eliminated from the equation. That twin ran 90.1 mph so the 525 could be faster than that. We will see if I'm right or wrong in about 3 weeks.

Price with those two examples are also about the same. I like both versions, but everyone up here is waiting for their ride in the I/O boat.

28 Active Thunder is a BIG 28. Its a conventional straight V-bottom (for now), but will run 75 and maybe a few ticks more with a 525EFI.

The Y2K is 30' w/ swim platform.
The Sunsation Dominator is 32' w/ swim platform.
The Active Thunder is 28 Feet before you bolt on a swim platform at your option.

The Y2K is 32 with swim platform 30 without

My bad. Thanks for the correction. Must be the morphine and all these nurses swarming all over me.

That's one bad boat.

I have tried to convince Pat to build a 30 ft. single engine poker run special with the AVH bottom. It may happen someday, but 37 production is cranking. With all the boats in line, and each time a 'for stock' boat is built, it gets committed to an owner before the rigging begins.
