Hulls are the same, the 250 efi's last forever as long as you keep oil onboard. I just bought a 275 verado 36'. I was looking at some used 36's w/ 250 efi's. I would have bought one if I hadn't got such a great deal on a leftover 06. You should be able to pick a nice one up for 80-90k on a trailer. Call susan @ Concept 305-635-8712, she can answer your questions entirely. I am a center console newby.

I had a 2003 36 Concept with 250efi's. As far as the boat goes it is the same as it is now, it's just that Concept keeps improving the graphics and interior looks.
The 250efi counter roatating engine will go through lowers if the boat has not been pefectly throttled when it is airborn. I missed a few on some large following seas and at 125hrs my counter rotating lower went. This issue has been documented on the fishboat forums and Merc new of the problem and warranted my whole lower instantly. The 250efis are extremely thirsty for gas and oil. I would only average around 1.1mpg with no WOT. I carried 10 gallons of oil at all times and would have to add around that much to every tank of fuel. I had my props balanced and tuned for greater midrange fuel mileage by Throttle Up. I cruised at 4000rpm @ 41mph and 58-60mph was WOT. I had some props that got me to 62 on a light load but cruise at 4000rpm was reduced to 37-38mph and fuel mileage was way down due that that.
I now have a 38te Founain that is 3' longer, 2'6" wider, 6,000lbs heavier with triple Verado 275's and I average 1.4-1.5mpg. That extra .5mpg is HUGE in fuel savings.
Any 36 Concept owners with twin 275's tell us there MPG?
thanks

Yes I get much better fuel mileage with my 3 275 Verado's than the 2 250efi's. It is a combo of engine technology and the Fountain hull is extremely efficient. What is the shocker is the Fountain weights about 6,000lbs more than the Concept and still gets the fuel mileage. It would really like to know what a 36 Concept with twin 275's fuel mileage is.
