Gas or diesel generator

It's a user thing. My customers were running their $hit damn near 24/7. A mase unit would usually have a life span of 6 months. My home growns are usually lasting about a year and a half which is way beyond normal TBO. The motors usually just wear out and lose compression. Only back end problems is AVRs and diodes. Fried rotors or stators is a very rare occasion. I change the armature bearings when the engine is TBOed.

Jass only owns his boats for 6 months and uses them 3 times, so if you have a genny that lasts 6 hours he is good to go!

The latest episode of Ship Shape TV is about generators. The host asked a rep from Kohler if you could mix match gas/diesel and the answer is no.
Check it out if you get a chance, pretty decent episode.

Dude up until a couple of days ago I was in the same camp. But as the old saying goes if enough people want something someone will build it. check this out: http://www.usdieselengines.com/Marin...extGen2006.htm
It states:
ULTRA COMPACT MARINE 3.5 KW GENERATOR IGNITION PROTECTION CERTIFIED Models can be installed in Gasoline or Diesel Vessels.

I posted because a major manufacturer of generators mentioned it on TV. It's simply more support that you at least have to look for the right product before mix/matching.
