Masher, depends on how you value your resellability, with the Merc 1075's it will be much easier to sell. If I was going to keep it a while and was not concerned about resell, Tommy's 1200's would be hard to beat, JC , Gellner and Eddie, are very gifted builders and very honest, they will stay with you if you have any problems.

Merc 1075's. Best resale, reliable and turn key.

Now days, nearly, almost, virtually everyone is making a twin Whipple Fuel Injected engine that is capable of producing an honest 1,000 -1,200 hp @ 6,000 rpms, while being able to idling like an import car and not dieing when put into gear.

Sterling and Merc were the two in question here.

Both will stand behind their engines for the given time they decide to warranty their products.

The decision needs to be made upon which will be the most reliable after their warranty expires.

We know Sterling is not cheap, but in no way either is Merc. Everyone sees black only when speaking of boats but there is a just as reliable choice in Sterling.

Regardless of choice, there are only two engines that you can sell a boat that houses them within. Sterling and Merc.
