Quote: So if the truck is plated at 12,000 and you have a td on the trailer which is good for 10,000 your make weight is 22,000 you are allowed.
This.

I run a B plate on my dually and a TE trailer plate, the combined weight ratings of these 2 plates is less than what I weight combined, so Im legal. Trailer is safety inspected and stickered.

Moral of the story to minimize overall cost and no truck inspection time/cost is to run a B plate on truck and overplate your trailer.

Quote: Just got a $40 ticket from Palatine Police at a roadside truck weigh. Had D plates on truck and trailer - got ticket for no safety inspection on truck (guess he missed that there was not one on trailer). Went straight to safety lane inspection and got stickers for both for a combined total of $50.00. Inspection stickers are also only good for 6 months.
So every 6 months I`m supposed to take time off to go get some gay a$$ safety inspection for a pleasure vehicle !?! ? God I hate this state so much!!!!!!!:bl aster:
