Cape Canaveral Fun Run

We are planning our second annual Fun Run for Sept. 15th. Last year we ran south to Sabastian and had a great day on the water. This year we are planning to run north to Ponce Inlet (Daytona). We will depart Port Canaveral about 10:30 on Saturday and head outside for the run north (weather permitting). We have arranged a lunch stop at Inlet Harbor Marina & Restaurant (www.inletharbor.com) . After lunch we will head back south either outside or down the ICW. We would really like for any of you fellow OSO members to join us. It should be a great day on the water and an opportunity to make some new best friends. If you would like any additional info please PM me. I have to give the restaurant some idea as to how many boats & people they should expect.

Thanks,
Dail

Cool to see some performance boaters in the Cape Canveral area. My parents have a place down there and everytime we visit I am always looking for performance boats with no luck.

Have fun on the run.

White Knuckles 08-10-2007 09:42 PM

It's coming together real well. Thanks again Dail for getting this going. I will be there.

Looking forward to it

White Knuckles 08-10-2007 09:55 PM

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Kimmer, will you promise to ride topless in the fun run. :D

cuda 08-10-2007 10:07 PM

How far is that run?

Dean Ferry 08-11-2007 06:07 AM

Cuda,
I guess, (Since I haven't done it before) approx. 90=100 miles round trip. Dail we'll be there, might bring the Mystic owners with us.
Dean

BajaBennett 08-11-2007 08:18 AM

Magic,
We don't have a large amount of performance boats in the area but we do have just about all the makes represented: Nordic, Baja, Scarab, Donzi, Formula, Stephen, Fountain, Etc.
The area is big into fishing with many CC's. Next time you visit, give us a call and we will try to get together.
Dail

BajaBennett 08-11-2007 08:24 AM

Cuda,
I think Dean is about right on distance. We would really like to have you and some of your friends from the river come over and join us. It should be a great day. We always have the choice of taking the outside route or using the ICW. If you have any questions, please get in touch with either Dean or myself.

Thanks,
Dail

BajaBennett 08-11-2007 08:28 AM

Kim,
Tom's suggestion sounds like a good one. We should be able to get a lot more boats to joins our run if you will promise (HA HA).

Dean Ferry 08-12-2007 09:05 AM

Dail,
I'm here @ Work right now, helping defend your sorry slacker butt!:signs069: But are you and the boss going out today? I plan on getting out of here around 12:00, and be home by 12:40, maybe in the water by 1:30, with HQ's approval of course!:ernaehrung004:
What do you think?
Dean

Boostable 08-12-2007 09:26 AM

Dail,

Count us in for this run. I will put the word out around here and I think its safe to say that we can get 4 to 8 boats from this area over for the run.

Cuda, lets get together and get a good group to go over. PM or hala at me.

White Knuckles 08-12-2007 09:32 AM

I had the Sutphen out yesterday with Gregg and his Fountain and Kim buzzing Cocoa Beach, and we are all ready to rumble!

BajaBennett 08-12-2007 09:49 AM

Boostable,
That would be great if you could get a group together from your area. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Dail

BajaBennett 08-12-2007 09:51 AM

Gregg,
How did the new boat run? Man, I really wish I could have joined you guys yesterday.

The boat is running great! I keep breaking things in the cabin from running 60-70 in 2-3' headseas!!!!:boat:

Latest casualty is one of my tube cabin lights. Easy fix though. I'm working on the video footage right now.

And as far as the run is concerned:

YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!

"east bound and down, loaded up and running, we gonna do what they say can't be done!!!"

CAVelocity 08-13-2007 08:53 AM

Sounds like something I might be interested in.....

Measured with google earth-

Port Canaveral to Ponce Inlet on the outside: 70 miles
Ponce Inlet to Port Canveral on the inside: 60 miles

I have a question: How many of us have open seats for this run? The reason I ask is because here at the college I teach at, we are trying to get the Veterans here together. We have had several meetings and have another one this Wed. evening. We have been trying to plan an event. I have already offered rides on my boat for them and will have at least 3, if not all 4 of my seats open. I think this would be a great opportunity to give them the rides, but there are more than 3 or 4, somewhere around 10 max I believe. Most of these are "kids" (I'm the resident old-guy) who are just back from Iraq. They are entering a profession in which most of their peers are not very friendly towards their former profession, and a couple of them are still wound up and need some help. Nothing a thrill ride can't at least temporarily fix! So I am curious as to how many of us have open seats and are willing to let them come along. I would like to be able to present something at the meeting Wed. Thanks...

I will be down for the week of Christmas, December 22 - 28th. I would like to look some of you guys up while I am down there. Can't wait to eat at Florida seafood, lobster shanty and Rusty's. My dad is going to buy a flats boat to do some fishing on the Banana and Indian rivers. I am trying to talk him into a "semi performance CC" that is more ocean worthy. I'll see how that goes is is pretty stubborn.

PS: If you have open seats and are willing, could you post how many seats? I would like to get a count. Thanks!

And MM........have your dad check out some Cat style CC's. A buddy has one with a 225 Yamaha. His hull drafts around 11" with engine up (18 down). He uses a trolling motor obviously. Also the boat can hit around 50 and because of the design, he can run in moderate seas if he wants to go outside. You don't even feel 1' chop at speed. Pro Kat is the make I believe.

This sounds like fun!

Come on over to St. Pete sometime!

OPBA Labor Day Run is comming up.:circle:

That would be cool! It would be really cool to go for a boat ride in December, I winterize my boat in Sept or early October. As a matter a fact boating season is almost over for me!:angry-smiley-055: We definately need to hook up for some drinks!:ernaehrung004:

F1-00 Racing 08-21-2007 10:48 PM

Is there any full speed zones around Canaveral? Sounds like a great time and really has tweaked my interest, unfortunatly I wouldnt make it to Ponce with my fuel burn ratio being 1 to 1 and only having a 60 gallon tank, but maybe might bring her and drop it in to play with Cavelocity for a little bit:party-smiley-048:

How many of you think you will be able to make the Fun Run? Just a quick roll call so I an update the restaurants.

Dail

Dean Ferry 08-28-2007 09:02 PM

I hope I'm home by then!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck, I might have to stay here in SD for the Labor day weekend, argh!!!
Greg,
Our boat will be full also, got family coming over from O'town. BUT, if you want to do a boating fun run for the Vets, I'm down with that, I think we could do something in the Banana River, take them to Bird Island and chill out.

I still hope to make this run buuuuuuttt.........I found some new oil in my coolant tank.........again!!!! And my oil was low on my dipstick and a little gray. I am going to throughly flush the coolant out of the motor and change the oil this weekend and run it one time and then see. I pray that this is residual from last time around. There's only 30 hrs on the motor since the repair. I can't believe that this is happening again! If I have to have this fixed again, the boat will no longer be run after the repair. It will get made right and be right for sale:angry-smiley-055:
