You would think that a $100,000.00 pay out and a $50,000.00 grand donation to the charity of the winners choice would be a feature story in the magazine wouldn't you?

Who knows the winner? Call him up and have him call PRA and ask where the charity money went. Simple really. These rumors get out of hand real fast with misinformation.

Peter came in and showed me how to reply to the thread. I posted a new thread. But here is my response to this one:

As you can see I rarely post on OSO. I own Double R Performance / NotTechNorth.com. We were at the run. In fact, 8 of the boats entered for $80,000, plus $350 per crew member, plus corporate sponsorship were Double R clients. David was steering the Lawrason's boat that won the $100,000 and I was throttling.

I have talked with several clients who were called to attend the event and they were told the same thing: $100,000 to the winner plus $50,000 to his charity. I talked to David this morning. He informed me that the Lawrason's Team charity, chosen by David and John Lang, is Hustle For a Cure - The John D'Amico Fund. www.hustleforacure.org . Hustle For a Cure's purpose is supporting kids with various forms of blood cancers and finding a cure.

I know a few things about Poker Runs America:

1) They are a for-profit organization. They SHOULD make money. This is their business and livelihood.

2) They donate generously and regularly to charities.

3) Sometimes it takes them, or anyone hosting a poker run, a while to finish up their accounting and make a charitable donation.

Remember the fact that this run was only a few weeks ago. Bill told the entrants that there would be a $50,000 charitable donation. We feel very confident there will be a $50,000 donation to Hustle For a Cure.

The math is easy. The paid entries of $10,000 per boat plus the per crew member cost of a whopping $350 and corporate sponsorships, versus the costs, even if they were higher than any poker run ever held, should leave plenty of room for PRA profit and the donation that was promised to the entrants.

I think people are jumping the gun in condemning Bill and the PRA staff. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt they deserve and congratulate them for a job well done at the end of all this.

I really hope lawrasons gets the charitable receipt for taxes. LOVE pra pokerruns. I'll be glad when this thread goes away.

So, its been a few days. Has anyone heard anything about what has happened? Has the commitment been met. Did the winner's charity of choice get the $$? I checked on the PRA site and there isn't even pictures of this event, never mind any info. Whats up with that??

I disagree. 2000.00 of each entry fee was earmarked as a donation(to total 50k).
David and John didn't donate 50k. They donated 2k just like I did and everybody else that went. The tax receiptS should go to those that agreed to pay a large entry fee which included a charitable donation.



In the end thats whats going to happen.

I guess there's two ways of looking at that situation. IF the donation was promised to be made in the winners name, then the winner actually won $150,000.00 and should get the tax reciept for the donation. IF the deal was that "$2000.00" from every entry was to be donated to charity, then each entrant should get a tax reciept for the donation.

IF, as was stated by raymond there was a short fall of 4 boats minus the one who paid but did not run, then a donation of $44,000.00 should still be made and the tax receipts distributed as above OR the $2000.00 should be returned to each entrant along with a pre addressed envelope for the winner's chosen charity.

The issue of recipts should have been explained or agreed before the money was given. I'm sure next year things will be set in stone.
