RADAR RunTims II at Fairview Beach

Radar run at Tims II at fairview beach Oct. 13, on the upper Potocac river. There are cash prizes for the fastest in class and fastest overall. NO COST to enter, it is a lot of fun. Last year 140 was tops.

I sold the boat...will there be any festivities at Tims? ie: naked strippers?:ernaehrung004:

Beak Boater 09-29-2007 07:42 AM

Its always a good time. You got to thank people that go out of their way to organize events related to speed. Inspite of todays insurance and civil climate Tims Rivershore continues to support this event. Some poker runs and other events were shut down, due to littigation, and risk. Posting cash awards for each class, and not asking for any entry fee. That doesnt happen in many events. Even if you dont run in the radar run, come out and support the guys that make it happen. Probably one of the best kept secrets on the Potomac in the fall. Its not Lotto, but its alot of fun. :D

seltzer 09-29-2007 09:26 AM

Rumor has it a 38 Fountain is gonna clean up this year.

Beak Boater 09-29-2007 10:39 AM

Where are there ramps? How far of a drive is it from the ramp if we splash a boat and then want to take a truck to Tim's?

Disclaimer: I have NO 1st hand experience with this ramp.

There is a ramp at the Fairview Beach Marina. It's less than a mile from Tim's.

http://vdh.state.va.us/Environmental...chtclubinc.htm

If you are coming from the Baltimore area, I would not drive all the way down to Tim's. There are several ramps that are approx. a half hour by boat to Tim's. So, you can either spend 1 hr. in the truck and .5 hr in the boat or 2 hr. in the truck if you drive to Tim's.

Highly recommended.....

Another option is Smallwood State Park.

The Fairview ramp is not for boats much longer than a 28. Low tide it's pretty shallow leaving there as well.

Another option is Hope Springs Marina. It's about 5 miles off
I-95, exit 140. http://www.hopespringsmarina.com/

Leaving the marina there is a 5 minute no wake then follow the channel markers out of Aquia Creek. It will put you out on the Potomac about a mile north of Tims. Probably a leisurly 15-20 minute boat ride.
Driving the truck from Hope Springs to Tims would be about 30 min (in the morning with light traffic).

jeffery s bennett 10-03-2007 12:07 PM

:pJust got word from some of the organizers that there is a 1,000 dollar minimum prize for best speed over last years 140.4

It's TOOOO early in the morning for me. :D:D

seltzer 10-03-2007 01:21 PM

Just a heads up, I sold last years Potomac Champion Talon, so the field is wide open. Im going prop testing in the Rubbermaid today. The thousand is already mine. Sorry Butch.:cool-smiley-011:

jeffery s bennett 10-03-2007 01:59 PM

:DIts not early, we put the bouys out and start early but no one runs until 9 or 10 and it runs at least till every boat has run, noon or so? and then:ernaehrung004:

shawn 10-03-2007 02:07 PM

From Fells Point?

Take the Bay south, make a right at the Potomac and it will be a few miles after a big bridge on the right...

That's funny. Thanks for the laugh.

I check the weather, they are calling for rain. Should we run this weekend instead???????

Is Ricky Rocket coming? Tomcat?

Beak Boater 10-03-2007 07:04 PM

I hear that they all have multiple boats on the VA. side of the river because they dont have any good boat mechanics. That way they can boat in one and work on the others. Besides everyone knows all the good boat mechanics are on the MD side of the Potomac.:food-smiley-007:

seltzer 10-03-2007 08:27 PM

Randy, at least my mechanic didnt tell me to bungy cord my shifters to keep them in gear. We have multiple boats for our multiple bi-aches. Should I take my hunk of junk BB to the same mechanic you took your OL to. My pockets arent deep enough. I did enjoy watching pops put it on son last week, that was good stuff. MM the cc's are blowin up in Port Tobacco. I think Mike is gonna run for pres. next year.

jeffery s bennett 10-04-2007 03:23 PM

If you go south on the bay and hang a right at the potomac and pass the big bridge, Fairview is on the left ( the other right):D

ezstriper 10-04-2007 03:52 PM

Hope springs probably has some of the nicest ramps closest to Tim's, end of hope rd in stafford....Ron

Now your going to give him too much confidence. He was faster Sat on the top end, maybe 1-2 mph. He never caught me though. Turning the props out is surely slower. Not to mention, I was dodging some slow CC in the middle of the river :cool-smiley-027:

Wonder who will put up a bigger number Oct 13th??????? :D:D

Beak Boater 10-04-2007 08:25 PM

Keep it up....Ill put your gearcase's on backwards again. That will slow you down.:D

We run in the morning. Years past we have tried to have the drivers meeting at 8am. The runs should start around 9:30

A couple people stay fri night in Fredericksburg VA. Its about 15 mins from Fredericksburg. They try to do it early to avoid the normal boat traffic. However, this late in the year there is not much normal boat traffic. What boats are you bringing?
