I believe the Falcon was designed to military standards, and is in use by the French airforce as well as the USCG. Good enough for me.
A cheap cool jet are the L-29 and L-39 jet trainers. The guy who wrote IceAge and Ants has one as well as a Hawker. Over three hundred in private use today!

And here is one of my favorite prop planes, kind of a baby Douglas Skyraider (Spad):

But, if I was to actually buy a plane, I figure a post 1978 Cessna 182 makes a lot of sense.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess- I only get to look at them from the technical and value standpoint. I'm the low man on the totem-pole that the rich folk ask if an airframe is good or bad.
Falcons are almost a cult or purist aircraft- many of their owners are or were pilots themselves and know how they're put together. In a structural and systems comparison, nothing else comes close. The new Falcon 7X is a jaw-dropper.
You're riding around in some beautiful machines Nort!! Congrats!

Rode on in a Falcon 2000 to Montana with my wife's boss, and G400 on the way back......both nice but different. My son Jake's first flight! Where do we go from here?

Funny thing....
I am getting out of owning airplanes and buying a boat. I sold my Extra 300S to RED BULL sport drinks (High Performance Aerobatic Airplane) and I fly for a Major US Airline so my Insurance was cheap--even for airshow flying. My major ***** is costs are ALWAYS going up in Aviation, you have a lot of regulations to deal with, but I say GO FOR IT! I plan on keeping some cheap plane in my hangar, but for now I want to screw around with boats, plus yuo can have a "beverage" or two with you and I don't need to worry about the FAA yanking my Certificates fro soemthign stupid!
Each to his own I guess.....
