So what about Sterlings? What would be something besides mercury that would make good hp and be realiable? The last boat had 525s and they did not impress me(thanks to CMI). Next boat I want will be smaller and only have 2 engines. I want a 38-42 v-hull that will do 125-135. What would everyone say would be the most reliable motor that runs on 91 octane that will not have to be rebuilt like these mercurys being discussed? Or am I just dreaming about a reliable big hp motor?

You will need a cat to run those speeds or a Fountain with 1075s. Even the Cig 39 with 1075s runs between 120 and 125 I believe

Looking at gettin rid of the 382 for a Cig 39. Want to run with the big boys now. No way 250k can afford a boat with 850's or 1075's. I would think you would need a lot more than that

I'm certainly not the expert, but anything more than 850's in the 39' does not seem piratical. Go for the Tiger, etc. IMO.

I almost bought a Cat w/ 800 SC's last year. Believe it or not, the fuel is what put me off. I would run the same kind of speeds as you mentioned, so, no boost for me. I was looking for 250 hrs. before rebuilds if that was even piratical.

Either way, looking forward to seeing your next toy! :D

I thought I read that the skater 39v did 130ish with 1075s. The cat insurance in Florida is just about impossible, so I will probably stay away from cats. The new quad step Donzi 38 comp should do those speeds, it did 115ish with 700s.

Sarasota is just around the corner from me. Is that who builds the Nortech motors?

I'm very close to Nortech's factory, unless I'm mistaken, they are built around here also.

Yea Im thinking the 700's 39 would be a sweet boat. I know my 600s are rated at 56gph at WOT, what are the 700s, 850s and 1075s rated at fuel wise?

Excuse my very obvious ignorance, but, is that PER motor......?

God I hope not.

It is interesting that Mercury doesn't use the .937 Jesel solid roller lifter system that the Bush and Truck teams all run. If the Jesel lifters could get you another 25 hrs out of the larger dia/wheel lifter Jesel package, the extra $2,000 an engine would be cost effective...cheap?
