Speaking of Charter membership stickers, who still has them on thier boat???
I do! :cool-smiley-027:

Waterfoul made a post a couple weeks ago.

As for my sticker, that was 3 boats ago. Wish I could get another.

Yeppers. That was my 1st journey into message boards.

The good ol days of 'slippy' (Skipper) and Harry.

Is it still around?

hp500efi 01-13-2008 01:39 PM

#9 and still here. I remember the old,old boards as well.

[QUOTE=sharkeymarine;2404211]This was at 10-13-1999 with already over 100,000 visitors

Gary is #2 I believe Jeff Cheng is #1 because they started the new program for the forum you see now. The original forum was started in early 1999...when yo could post anonymously. That's everyone was a loose cannon.

HI Mike C I remember when you were ScarabMike.. Mike J

I was charter member 927, now I see I'm 892. Wow, they are dropping like flies.
I joined in Jan of 2001, but I posted and ad to sell a boat about a year earlier, just never joined at that time.

Oh yeah, it was on there I heard about this place. I was Ted G. on there and one day somebody was saying in the middle of a flame thread he had been spending time over at Offshoreonly.com . I came over, signed up on a whim using my first e-mail handle, and hear I am :cool-smiley-011:

Harry is still around. I venture over to the newsgroups on occasion when I want a good laugh. He hasn't changed a bit. Still more worried about politics than boating.

Is it still around?

It is still there but I have not been on it in years.

Back then I was Scarab Mike, Miklos was Laser, Gordo was H82LUZ, Bob Bull, Alweiss and a few other were there under there own name.

We all use to really mix it up! All the F1 and F2 racers were there and it got so out of hand it was comical and better than prime time TV! I remember Mercury Lake X held a F1 and 2 round table to clear the air.

That was when I 1st met a lot of the guys. I met Miklos 1st found out he lived 15 minutes from me and that is when I got all involved in offshore racing.

bob 01-13-2008 08:39 PM

#40 and still hanging in there. Got involved I believe just before or after Jeff became an owner. I gotta say, it has been very entertaining:D

Those names are coming back. Forgot Llama Feeder.

Here it is some 8 yrs later and I still have no idea what the hell the Llama races were. Figured some secret code, kind like the early secret OSO code 'tug-tug'. :p

I haven't been back there since I joined here.

You talking about Jeff Cheng? He is the original builder/owner of this site from the beginning. Steve has to be credited with making it what it is today though.

Im always amazed at the growth this site has had over the years.

KAAMA 01-13-2008 11:45 PM

I think I joined OSO in 1999 on the old forum, but when the new forum came out in 2000 I had to rejoin. I think my number is/was #217 or #211 or something like that. I have certainly learned a lot in many ways since then (still learning) and I still recognize a bunch of names from the beginning and have seen a lot of change on OSO in many ways since 1999.

I don't post near as much as I once did. Used to see a lot of carbed versions like the Merc 330, 365Mag, etc, owners who wanted to upgrade, but now that is quickly becoming a thing of the past more and more. As a weekend warrior, tech info and new products are hard to keep up with and the average offshore boater seems to know a little more about what it takes to make a marine engine combination perform well these days than when I first joined. I have enjoyed OSO over the years and it has greatly enhanced my boating experience and I have met several good people on here. God's peace to all.

Try it over your avatar and its doesnt show on the OSO screen, its farther down on your computer screen. The web address shows and your number is at the end of it ....

I am curious as to how the site changed hands and when and why did that occur? I also want to say this site is soley responsible for my unlimited addiction to HP boating!!!

Rock on OSO!!!!

Go back and reread this thread. Someone posted a link to the "history of OSO" thread. Good reading.

Was here at the beginning (October 2000), I just do not feel compelled to post that often, lurking and reading other's post/advice keeps me coming back. :D

US1 Fountain 01-14-2008 04:00 PM

Now don't you all go and hound OSO about getting you some fancy stickers too. I kinda like being one of the few.:D

Kinda cool - Our current boat was listed 'for sale' in the cigarette forum page. :cool-smiley-011:
