Cigarette , Look at that dash
|
The cig is much nicer. The side entry with the center drive is sweet. The attention to detail on the dash is awsome.
The cig looks better. |
Wow, two completely different boats. Both are beautiful in their own way.
Do you want a sit down rocket with a small cabin that runs 115 or do you want a stand up wave crusher with a larger cabin that will top out in the high 80's? |
call me
|
That's 2 differant set-up boats stand-up vs. a sit-down. The OL is faster & more of a poker run addition the Cig is a great user friendly stand-up style boat. I don't think you can go wrong with either my vote is for OL (surprise there huh).I had a 43 Scarab before my GTX & it was a little better for the family but I'm lucky they didn't mind the GTX & losing the cabin not sure everyone would be so lucky. My 42 is for sale but it doesn't have stock power.

do you want to stand beside your passenger or sit across from them?
do you want wind in your face? do you want to be able to drive from the middle? these boats are extremely different... i am interested in which one you choose, keep us posted. i predict you will get the OL because you just had a cig, right? being me, i would consider the 42 PR also. good luck. |
Personally, I would go with the Outerlimits. Simplicity and balls out speed are cool in my book.
Even though the Cig has much more attention to detail in the interior, I'm not a big fan of the 'digital clock' top gun graphic on the exterior of the boat. It would be a lot closer for me if I liked the graphics on the Cig. |
Well liked mentioned 2 diff boats. That being said I would take the Cigarette. Also the gun will be easier to sell when time comes. Both are sweet:cool-smiley-011:
|
The Cig has Merc power the OL does not . The Cig may have better resale and be easier to get serviced should you break down away from your local marina. I would go with the Cig for those reasons and the bigger cabin and better freeboard as it is a stand up hull .

Good to talk with you this morning Jeff. Keep in touch.
|
Dont you have a 38'? Variety is the spice of life!
|
thats a tuffy . . . . but i like sit down boats with windshields . . . GTX for me.
|
When you talk about detail the Ol has just as much attension to detail as the Cig. My boat as color keyed tie wraps under the dash. I think it is a push whn it comes to detail & being a full outncustom boat. As for the cabin I was in the first 39 TG center drive (the purple one) the cabin is about the same size in both boats (not much use other than storage).

Of those two particular boats? The GTX alllll day!
|
Check your PM.
|
The Ilmors are the way to go, if it was me!
Dean |
You're right allfiredup, I'll rewrite that:
'more highly customized' not 'more attention to detail' |
I would get a 41 apache:D
Out of your options I would get the Cig. |
Either way- you can't go wrong. Personally, the Cigarette is alot nicer looking, but the Outerlimits has the Ilmors.........tough decision for sure! In this case- I would take the Cigarette.
|
Two great looking rides...
Not crazy of the "grab your buddies nutsack" seating in the Cig but I would not get Ilmors for fear of re-sale not having standard engines |

SHOCKER?! |
I think it would really depend on how you are going to use the boat. If you are going to be kicking around Ky Lake with the family and friends the Cigg would be much more user friendly. But if you are going to do a decent amount of Poker runs the much faster GTX with the secure seating might be the way to go.
The Drawback of the Cigg to me would be that middle bolster. The bolster would be a show stopper for me. If I were looking for a 39TG it would have to be one without the side by side front bolster. The Drawback to the OL would be bravo drives behind high torque 700 hp engines. If you do like running Poker Runs I don't know how reliable that set up would be. But at some point they are suppose to come out with their own drive. Both are beautiful boats. Good luck. |
My self I like this one, http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o17657-en.html, but you always seem to have great looking clean boats.

to be honest you really can't make a decision until you seatrial both. I'm all for the speed and sit-down personally. |
Outerlimits and dont look back!!!
|
Gtx !!!
|
...you're killing me.
Go OL.... You had a great 38 Cig with 525's...it didn't hold you attention for too long. I know the 39 is different but enough difference I don't think so. Do the OL - you loved the Donzi and this boat will run over 100mph without breaking a sweat. But -you will not be able to flip the OL as quick as you like eight months from now.:cool-smiley-027: Chris |
Cigarette. The name and the motors will help resale. I can not knock the OL but until I started getting into this sport more I had never heard of OL. Everyone and their mom has heard of Cigarette. Also, the merc power is a plus. I am not crazy about the side by side seating in the cig but the cig will be much easier to use in a day of boating.
Just one man's biased opinion |
OL because u just came out of a cig.....
then youll want a cig again tehn again the OL is like the ZRC u had and u had speed in the nor tech hmmmm r u looking to adopt? |
Between the Cig & OL you posted I would choose the OL. However, I'm personally not a fan of red boats or shocker-style seating so I'd look elsewhere to spend $300+.

Not crazy of the "grab your buddies nutsack" seating in the Cig Is the GYBN seating done at the factory or is that a custom company?? :D:D:D:D |
As much as I like Outerlimits my choice would be the Cig.
A NorTech 39V would be a closer second than the GTX for me. Paul |
anyone have the Powerboat mag test on the 39 gtx ?
|
GO with the OL. You will get much better factory service.

A NorTech 39V would be a closer second than the GTX for me. Paul I agree. I like the 39 Cig better than the 39 OL GTX. Now I also think the 39 Cig rides better than the 39 OL, but prefer the 39 Nortech which is a better riding boat, larger in size, smoother but has some styling cues that are not to my liking unless painted a certain way. Just my .02 |
Cig all the way.
|
|
Both nice boats. However, Like GLH, I see the Ilmor's as a negative. Good luck with your choice.
P.S. You are very fussy and will not be happy with th OL,s paint if it was done at the factory. |
